Really cute location! Right by the water and the rooms were cute and clean! They don’t have the latch locks on the doors but we still felt safe and secure.
Only down side was the walls are thin and we could hear our neighbours talking until late at night.
They accommodated our late check in which was appreciated.

Great ocean views and amazing customer service! My brother and I both got rooms here for our visit to Better Place Forest. Upon arriving we were welcomed by amazing host Jade. She was extremely helpful and made us both feel so welcome. We also noticed how great she was with every guest staying. She made sure everyone had the best stay possible. I can’t say enough about her as I can’t wait to bring my wife back for our anniversary. She even personally made me every cup of coffee I had during our stay which was amazing. Who needs Starbucks, her coffee was first class. The trail from room was beautiful with amazing views of ocean, great blue herons, and breathtaking sunsets. She even showed me the ocean view rooms which I plan to stay in next visit. All 3 ocean view rooms were beautiful, but room 118 had furniture blocking the ocean view. That is a shame as there is no way to sit and enjoy the ocean like the other to ocean view rooms.

Wonderful Beachfront Stay for Our 30th Anniversary!
We stayed at this charming motel in Gualala to celebrate our 30th anniversary and couldn’t have picked a better spot. They surprised us with a lovely upgrade, which made the occasion even more special. Our room was right on the beach with a beautiful window overlooking the river flowing into the sea—waking up to that view every morning was unforgettable.
The room was spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We especially appreciated that they are pet-friendly; our border collie, Sierra, felt right at home too. Jade at the front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful, adding a warm personal touch to our stay.
The continental breakfast was surprisingly good—fresh options and excellent vanilla espressos that we looked forward to each morning. Best of all, the location is perfect. We were able to walk to many restaurants and shops, which made exploring Gualala easy and enjoyable.
This was a fantastic value for the price and location. We’re already planning our next trip back. Highly recommend!

Been to the quiet town of Gualala a few times, but only stayed at the Surf Inn twice . The 1st time staying here was just before Christmas and I was able to get the Prime Suite which was plenty spacious and a handy small refrigerator was a nice plus for snacks. Great oceanside view !! Second time was fair. Just a a room with an oceanside view. The Manager, Jade is most definitely a people person and very professional , and very accommodating to whatever needs her guests require !!! $$$ very competitive !!! Shopping and eaterys are close by . The rooms are not on the main street which makes them quieter and parking is also away from the main street !!

Highly recommend this little gem. We’re traveling North on the Shoreline Highway 1, and booking rooms on the fly. We got super lucky finding the Surf Inn at Gualala. Very clean and accommodating. Kuireg coffee maker in your room. Very nice complementary bathroom products. We got there just in time to see a magical sunset. Only stayed 1 night and we’re leaving early heading to Fort Bragg. Thanks so much to Jade, the morning manager. She hooked us up with recommendations for when we get to our next stop. She also made us both vanilla lattes and gave us snacks for the road.
