The location is incredible. As for the room we were given, it’s a mixed bag. We were assigned to apartment #2. We had a very spacious, comfortable living area, a bedroom, a well-equipped kitchen (including garbage disposal and dishwasher), and an amazing view. Heating was a problem. So far as we could tell, there is none. A thermostat on the wall seemed inoperative, and a space heater didn’t heat. However, it was the bathroom and shower that account for the poor rating we are assigning. The shower was probably the worst we’ve ever experienced in many years of travel. You had to wrestle the knob to get it to turn on, and then, all you got was a dribble. On the plus side, the water was hot. If you want to stay here, don’t let them put you in Apartment #2. I’m guessing from the many good reviews this place gets that the other rooms are better. With a little heat and a decent shower, this could be Paradise.

Wonderful little inn! We stayed in the captains quarters and it was perfect for families. We could see seals right from the balcony. We even saw a whale from our room!!! The ocean sounds lulled us to sleep. It’s located in a quaint little town tucked between the redwoods and the lost coast. There’s a black sand beach very close by. The cafe downstairs has high quality coffee & food.

We reserved and paid for a specific top-floor room at The Oceanfront Inn for May 30–31, 2026. When we arrived, we were informed that the room was occupied by another guest and unavailable. We were offered a lower-quality room, which we declined because it was not the room we had reserved and paid for.

Management agreed to cancel the reservation, issue a refund, and relocate us to another nearby hotel. We stayed elsewhere that night. However, our credit card records show that after issuing a refund, the hotel charged our card again the following day, even though we never stayed at the property.

What disappointed us most was the way the situation was handled. Instead of taking responsibility and focusing on customer service, management was confrontational and dismissive. Mistakes can happen, but how they are handled matters.

Based on our experience, I would recommend carefully reviewing all charges and confirming room availability if a specific room type is important to your stay.

What an absolute gem!! A true escape. Tranquil, peaceful, serene. My room was lovely: clean, spacious, and tastefully decorated. My balcony delivered the most beautiful view, and even with everything closed up in the night, I could hear the waves crashing as I fell asleep. The cozy outdoor area was perfect for watching the sunset and the coffee shop was a wonderful way to start my morning. I need one request while I was there for help turning on the heater, and help arrived very quickly and very professionally and very kind. They treated me like I was a personal guest in their home.

The views are phenomenal. The cafe downstairs is great. We had a third floor king room and the balcony and vaulted ceilings were the best parts. Everything otherwise is pretty dated, the bed was a bit uncomfortable. They have contactless check in and out. I’m sensitive to fragrance and had a bit of a hard time with their linens and cleaning supplies, but I didn’t call and ask them to accommodate me so I cant criticize that, just an FYI for those with sensitivies. The hotel next door was recently renovated and some of our friends stayed there, it was really nice and seemed better for those with fragrance sensitivities.
