Absolutely delightful place! Stayed during the “soft opening” and have already booked next year to see what has transpired. The location is ideally located between Mendicino and Fort Bragg making it well suited for activities in either and in-between. The redesign is inspired – from landscaping to room design to amenities – resulting in an immaculate, comfortable and peaceful environment. The beach and the labyrinth are not to be missed.
A few minor things would have been icing on the cake and chalked up to being there during the opening period. Also be aware that internet and cell connectivity are notoriously spotty in this part of the coast so plan accordingly. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return.
We check in and they gave us a first floor room with a patio. My wife told the check in lady that we booked a balcony room so that should be on the 2nd floor. The lady agreed but the manager said NO because that’s what we booked. On our reservation it clearly says a room with balcony. We are not illiterate of words. I’m a architect and know the difference between a patio and a balcony. We booked through Expedia so we took it up with Expedia. This place is nicely renovated but the way management handles our reservation, we feel a little discriminated. I would not recommend this place with no contact and confirm reservation. A 2 stars for the manager.
Update…
Expedia contacted us and said management refused to acknowledge his wrong. Expedia was kind enough to give us a little credit towards our stay. This is the end of the road for me at Mendocino Cove…
This is a unique property. There are 2 or 3 motel-style blocks, but spread out on a large piece of land. The design is chic, modern, and tasteful… as are the details. There’s actually good coffee and good bathroom amenities. These were all nice surprises. There’s a firepit area, sauna or steamrooms that were not open or ready when we were there… and there is a beach access road that is direct and quick.
This is a lovely, well appointed place. It’s clear the owners have put a lot of thoughtful touches from pour-over coffee in the rooms, fresh bottled water refilled daily, good quality shower and bath products, and comfortable beds and sitting areas. Their plans for remaining property upgrades are impressive. Landscaping is very well done. Dog friendly amenities and enclosed dog run are great. We will definitely return! Love the easy walking path to the beach. The location is an easy drive to either Mendocino or Fort Bragg.
Had an amazing stay. Was in a brand new 2nd floor room with a spectacular view of the cove. Sitting on the balcony and listening to the waves was so peaceful. And it’s only a short walk down to the private beach. The room was so clean and cozy and everyone we interacted with was very nice and welcoming. My girlfriend and I took private pickleball lessons with James and he was the best. Also got to play with some really good players. Can’t wait to return.
