Loud music venue across the street, bass bumping through walls

We chose this motel based off of the jacuzzi tub. It was just a quick weekend getaway, that turned into needing a getaway from this place! We pulled in at 10:57pm, the lady was friendly enough and helped get us situated. We entered room #114 around 11:15pm, unloaded our bags and jumped in the tub that was missing knobs, and looked dated- but it worked. Water was hot enough, and bed was clean. We were exhausted. While I relaxed in the the tub, my husband noticed something scurry across the floor. After his quick reaction, he found the culprit. A light-brown HUGE cockroach. NOT A WATERBUG- A ROACH! That was ALL I needed to jump out of that tub, throw on my clothes, grab my bag and I WAS OUT! My husband killed the roach, put it in a bag and he walked it to the front desk. We rang the buzzer 3 times before the man came from the back. I politely explained to the gentleman that ANY OTHER bug would not have had this reaction, but I couldn’t AND wouldn’t be staying. I asked for a refund, provided that we had been been there less than 3 hours in total, had the roach as proof and he smiled and said, “yeah- I understand but we dont give refunds.” Excuse me?! He did smile as he refused to fix the situation, OR offer any solution. I had my husband hand over the roach because its only fair that they keep it while I file a dispute with my bank for this charge. We paid $198 for an old tub, and roaches- I think not.

It is a good place price wise the free breakfast was a bowl of cereal. Stayed 3 days and was going to keep the room and stay 1 additional day the lady at the desk said no said they were booked up full went back on booking.com and they had 8 different rooms available 3 of which like I was in so since she lied I left it was rude after paying $230 for 3 nights.

I tend to only write a review when I have a bad experience but I’m now planning to change that. The one night I spent (Sunday Jan.4-5) at the Sycamore Inn was so poor, I now truly appreciate the other motels around Chico.
Anyway, I checked in late in the evening. It was a cold 50° and heavy rain. The host was friendly and gave me room 125. It was midnight before I returned to my room with food. Within minutes I noticed there was no heat in my room. The fan worked but only blew cold air. I think the owner knowingly gave me this room with a broken heater. The previous occupants had the thermostat maxed out to 89° and the front panel was removed as if it was under repair. It was late so I decided to just suck it up. It was an uncomfortably cold few hours sleep. At 8am I planned a hot shower to thaw out. There was no hot water, only lukewarm. None of the rooms near me were occupied and I only saw two other cars at the motel. Which means the hot water had not run out. Instead, the frugal owner must have turned the water heater temperature down really low to save money. I showered. The room was cold, the water was cold, and I was freezing. I walked up to the office to partake in their advertised morning breakfast. No toast, rolls, or muffins. Fruit Loops, corn flakes, and five brown bananas were the only offering. There was a pancake maker, but no batter, and an inoperative juice dispenser. And that’s all folks. I asked for some cereal milk. The owner returned with gallon from his residence and pored some over my corn flakes. Breakfast was a bit uncomfortable as the host and his wife watched me carefully the entire time I prepared my luxurious bowl of off brand cereal. Don’t stay here. Period.
