Amazing Mexican food at this spot. The caramelo with chicken was the best dish we had. Smokey and spicy, well cooked chicken, it was great. The bean and cheese Lorenza was also good. Highly recommend!

Sonora Town Tacos in Long Beach was alright overall. The customer service was good and the food came out pretty fast, which I appreciated. They also had a nice variety of salsas to choose from.

That said, the tacos were a little too simple for my taste. Nothing was really bad, it just didn’t stand out enough for me to want to come back. If you like straightforward street-style tacos you might enjoy it more, but personally I’d probably try somewhere else next time.

Everything about this place is incredible. The food, service, and atmosphere are all excellent. The flavor and quality of the tortillas and meat, as well as the salsas and aguas frescas are all absolutely fantastic. The tortillas were so good I bought some to take back home with me, which my Mexican fiancée loved. I strongly recommend this restaurant and will be back next time I’m in Long Beach. The staff went above and beyond to be friendly and I noticed a nice touch where they cleaned off the side of a bowl with a tiny bit of overspill before taking to the table. It’s the love and care that goes into everything that makes this experience so wonderful. This is in my top five places outside México and they deserve their success.

I’ve had tacos all over the country. Street carts, trendy spots with Edison bulbs, places that charge you extra for “artisanal air.”

Sonoratown? Zero gimmicks. Just absolute heat.

I went with the cabeza taco and the chivichanga, and both were outstanding.

The cabeza was everything it should be. Tender, rich, perfectly seasoned, and wrapped in one of those thin Sonoran-style flour tortillas that somehow feel both delicate and indestructible at the same time. No unnecessary fluff. No overcomplication. Just pure flavor doing its job.

And the chivichanga? Dangerous. Crispy on the outside, loaded on the inside, balanced and not greasy in the slightest. It’s the kind of thing you start eating slowly and then suddenly look down and realize it’s gone.

This place doesn’t try to impress you. It just does. Simple menu, confident execution, bold flavor.

If you’re in Long Beach and you skip Sonoratown, that’s on you.
