This was my first time at Oyo. The food was delicious and the service was wonderful as well! Axel was attentive, but not hovering and friendly, but not overbearing. There’s even an area where guests can play the piano and steel drums. I’m planning to come back with my friends and family!

We had a great experience at Oyo! The drinks and food were excellent, and every single dish we ordered really hit the mark.
The Food:
Street Food Double: The chutneys were incredibly flavorful, pairing perfectly with the well-cooked chickpeas. The bara pockets were wonderfully soft and delicious.
Beef Patties: The pastry was beautifully crisp and savory. The spiced short rib filling was a total delight–it had a nice kick to it without being overly spicy, which I loved.
Oxtail Stew: Generous portion size with plenty of chunky meat that literally falls off the bone. It was perfectly marinated in a great blend of spices. Pairing the stew with a side of their coconut rice is highly recommended!
Banana Bread Pudding: Having heard so much hype about this, it was just alright for me. It was cooked perfectly and I appreciated that it wasn’t overly sweet, but it lacked a real wow factor.
The Drinks:
Red Wine Sangria: Really nice, refreshing, and fruity.
Chase The Devil: Fun to try if you want something different, and it has a decent kick, but I would probably skip it next time.
The restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of seating. On top of that, the servers are friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful. Definitely worth a visit!

& FOOD &:
(10/10) Pumpkin soup
(7/10) Plait Bread (half)
(9/10) Beef patties
(9/10) Jerk half chicken
(8/10) Short rib entree
(10/10) Seafood paella
Pumpkin soup was the surprise hit! We had a different paella from Oyo before and that delivered on the high expectations, but the pumpkin soup had a great flavor (slight curry I think).
The plait bread alone was okay but when paired with the soup, it enhanced the soup.
The bread alone was dense. Also I remember the cast iron bread from two years ago, which was far better.

Oyo remains our absolute favorite go-to spot in downtown Pleasanton! Whether it’s for the high-quality food, the great service, or the amazing vibes, this place never misses. We visited on a Saturday evening, and I highly recommend making a reservation like we did, as it gets lively!
The New Favorites
We decided to branch out and try some new menu items this time, and they were spectacular:
* Caribbean Caesar Salad: This was stunning. It arrived looking like a “cloud salad” and was incredibly fresh and flavorful.
* Hot Guyanese Plait Bread: You have to order this. It served warm and paired with a Jackfruit mango butter spread that was out of this world. Highly recommended!
* Jerk Pork Shoulder: Served in a sizzling cast iron pan, this dish was top-notch. It came with Cuban black beans and rice, perfectly caramelized ripe plantains, citrus mayonnaise, and a bright mojo sauce.
The Classics
Of course, we couldn’t resist some of our usual favorites, which were as fantastic as ever:
* Goat Curry: Rich, tender, and served with warm, pillowy roti.
* Half Jerk Chicken: Perfectly seasoned and served with those delicious plantains.
Drinks & Atmosphere
To top it all off, we tried the Rum Flight, which was a great way to sample some unique flavors. The service was attentive despite the Saturday night rush, and the atmosphere in downtown Pleasanton is always a vibe.
If you haven’t been to Oyo yet, you are seriously missing out!
