Hands down the worst food I have ever eaten at a Mexican place in my life. You can taste fish if everything the salsa the asada the shit even the beans tasted like fish. Do not recommend at all and will never be returning. I remember this used to be a very tasty place a year ago but honestly this was the worst ecxperince I’ve ever had here
My boyfriend and I have ordered take out from here twice now and both times the food was delicious! The person who took our order was polite and well mannered, and the food was ready in 15-20 minutes as stated when I placed the order. I ordered the tostada de camaron and pulpo and my bf ordered the torre paisa. The serving sizes were perfect for the price. And the food was very good and fresh, which is super important when it comes to seafood. We will definitely continue to visit this restaurant often. Live Oak needed a place like this!
Mar y Fuego was such a great find! The food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the shrimp fajitas, shrimp tacos, and fish tacos, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The salsa was also excellent and full of flavor, but the green sauce is SPICY! Great food and a really enjoyable experience overall. We’ll definitely be back! Staff was warm and welcoming.
I normally don’t leave negative reviews when food is decent, but I wanted to share my experience from 02/22/26.
My family and I recently visited this newly established Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere was okay, but it still feels very similar to the previous restaurant that occupied the space. For a new establishment, I expected some updates or improvements, such as additional seating or a designated waiting area, since there currently isn’t a comfortable place to wait for a table.
Our waitress was polite and did a good job, however we didn’t feel particularly welcomed when we arrived, and no one explained the menu or checked in with us beyond taking our order. I noticed the owner or manager actively greeting and talking with several tables, which I understand is important when building community relationships after opening — but unfortunately our table was never acknowledged.
The food itself was okay, but service timing needs improvement. Our order took longer than expected for the type of dishes we ordered, and it appeared that some tables had missing or forgotten plates. While there seemed to be enough waitstaff, the kitchen appeared overwhelmed. During busy moments, strong leadership from management — whether assisting the kitchen or supporting staff — can make a big difference in overall customer experience.
I believe every customer should feel equally welcomed and valued. One negative experience can impact how comfortable guests feel returning. I’m hopeful this restaurant improves its operations as it settles in, and I plan to give it another try in about six months.
