What a lovely place! We stopped on our way back home to Oregon. The mariscos a la diabla and al mojo de ajo were delicious. The asada fries were a hit as well! The server was very attentive and our food came out quick!
Great food and sweet services. In a small town of north California – Dunsmur , we totally got the feeling of Mexico. I would anyone who enjoys Mexican must try out this place. It’s pretty much on the way to McCloud Waterfalls from Redding. Value for money and serving have large portions.
This restaurant is such a sweet spot! The food is amazing and the service is very friendly and accommodating. They closed at 9 but they let us seat at 8:50. I would highly recommend their pollo in la playa for an interesting and delicious take on chicken on the beach!
Tips for vegetarians… (3/5 green stars)
I wandered in here in the middle of a hot day glad to find a welcoming place to cool down. The simultaneous TV and music was unnerving though – pick one, folks! Based on a recommendation I went for the spinach tamales. The young waiter was helpful in explaining that neither the refried beans (lard) nor Mexican rice (chicken stock) were suitable for me as a vegetarian. Disappointed, but glad that he told me, I had the tamales with regular beans and no rice. The tamales were better than I was expecting and, together with the friendliness of the staff, I thought it was a decent experience.
I’m giving them 3/5 “green stars” for social and environmental impact for now (will update if more info comes along).
• Better accommodation of vegetarians / vegans would be appreciated.
• The menu is meat / fish heavy and there’s no mention of sourcing/ sustainability.
• Beer selection is from the major Mexican brands (Corona, Pacifico, Modelo), all owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev. Might be nice to include a local beer or two from Dunsmuir Brewing Works.
• Family-run, food made from scratch.
