I haven’t been here since the 70’s probably after they opened. Was really impressed ack then cause I never returned.
Wow, first off the waitstaff was incredible. The gals were tag teaming the tables. So friendly and efficient.
The food was top notch, and killer margaritas to boot. So reasonable compared to other Mexican restaurants in town. We will for sure
be returning.

La Fonda is celebrating their 50th year in business. We enjoy coming here. The owner, his daughter and the rest of the crew are soooooo friendly. They genuinely make you feel like they’re happy to have you there. Rare these days in some places. We came on a Friday night and all the tables were taken. Our wait was only 5 minutes. Food came out quickly and steaming hot on massive brown ceramic plates. The steak picado was tender and full of flavor in its special sauce. The taco shells were crunchy to perfection. And we finished our meal with fried ice cream. The interior of the restaurant is full of live plants, decorative tiling along the bar and the wall behind us and stained glass windows. Loud chatter and laughter, clinking silverware as diners eat while the servers hustle and bustle through the dining room, make for an enjoyable ambience.

From the street, La Fonda looks like an older, hole in the wall that isn’t even open. However, parking and entrance in rear. Vibe is alive with good mix of locals and newbies like me but is not noisy or cramped.
Family owned since 1970’s service was warm and friendly and interior was was pretty novel and warm as well (they even had a faux firelplace which was nice on the cold evening).
Food is pretty good, better than any Mexican chain I have visted. The drinks were strong and good too.

Wanted to try this location for a potential birthday celebration. We ordered: carne asada, combo grilled chicken and prawns, chile verde, tacos Al pastor and fajitas de res. We also ordered : guacamole dip to share and house margarita double shot blended. Omg. Let me say, that their portion is huge and the guacamole dip was so but so good and their margaritas was super strong. I definitely go back for the food and their service.

This is a busy family run restaurant. Make a reservation during peak times is my suggestion. The service is super friendly and fast and they make you feel special. The ambiance is warm, vibrant and reminds of Mexican hacienda. The servings are generous. The food overall is well presented and tasty. Yup, try this restaurant. You will like it.
