Do not stay at this place, room smelt really bad, people are very very loud at night. A bit sketchy location. Did not like this hotel at all.

If you book this hotel be prepared for ZERO assistance from its part. I made a reservation for one night, using booking.com, only to realize I mistakenly chose the date of arrival. I immediately reached out to the Inn and politely ask for a change in the date, if rooms were available or a free cancelation of the room. One day after my request, the Inn charged my account for the full amount of the room I never used and sent notice about. That’s that: I guess someone enjoyed the room after all, ‘free of charge’! Make sure you do not need any customer support from the Bay Bridge Inn. Most likely you will receive the same assistance I received: ZERO.

Experiences
I have lived in San Francisco for 33 years, and I am deeply disappointed by my recent experiences at the Bay Bridge Inn. I have stayed there numerous times over the years, and it has historically been a place where I felt comfortable staying. Unfortunately, I no longer feel that way.
I am particularly concerned about what I believe is discriminatory treatment toward gay guests. I have personally0 experienced treatment that made me feel singled out and judged because of my sexual orientation, and I have also witnessed or heard similar concerns from other gay people who have stayed there.
One employee in particular, a front-desk representative whose name I believe is Raunak (I may not have the spelling correct), has made me extremely uncomfortable. I have the impression that guests’ personal and social behavior is being monitored and that information about guests’ online activity may be used to judge them or influence decisions about whether they should be allowed to stay. I cannot independently verify everything I have heard or observed, so I will limit my review to what I personally experienced.
Most recently, I was staying at the hotel with my companion when we accidentally spilled a small amount of coffee on a chair. We immediately cleaned up what we could. There was a slight stain underneath the seat that we were unable to completely remove. I reported what happened rather than trying to hide it.
The response was, in my opinion, completely disproportionate. The chair was removed, and I was told that it could never be used again. I was subsequently banned from the hotel.
This is especially upsetting because I have stayed at the Bay Bridge Inn many times and have never intentionally damaged anything. A minor coffee stain on a chair should not, in my opinion, result in a permanent ban—particularly when the guest immediately acknowledged the accident and attempted to clean it.
What concerns me even more is the broader pattern I feel I have experienced as a gay guest. San Francisco has a long history of being a place where LGBTQ+ people should feel welcome and safe. A hotel that is frequented by members of the LGBTQ+ community should be especially mindful of treating everyone with dignity, consistency, and respect.
I am giving the Bay Bridge Inn one star, and unfortunately I will not be staying there again.
There is, however, one employee I want to recognize: Colbyy. Colby has consistently been wonderful. He is positive, respectful, welcoming, and treats people fairly. He is, in my experience, the one bright spot at this establishment, and I genuinely appreciate the way he treats guests.
I hope management takes these concerns seriously and examines how LGBTQ+ guests are being treated. Nobody should feel that they are being watched, judged, singled out, or treated differently because of who they are.

It’s nothing fancy, but everything is functional and smooth. Having a parking lot instead of valet is great. The room was clean and everything worked. The check-in process was quick and easy. What more could you ask for? If you want fancy, you pay for fancy. But this hotel was solid, no amenities needed.

It’s a fine hotel. The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. It’s not in the best part of town and there were homeless people in the area, but I never had any issues.
