Food, service and atmosphere all on par! We ordered a cowboy platter that was enough to share for two, also had great selection of beverages. Staff was very friendly, personable and attentive. Highly recommend. We will be back!
They have disgraced the name. The new owners have no idea how to run a restaurant. Do not come here expecting the amazing atmosphere that Whiskey Town Barbecue had. The menu is nothing like what it was. Service is non existent. Have been waiting over an hour and a half for our food. The staff seem absolutely clueless. Many people left due to not even being greeted or given a menu. People had to grab there own menu and still were not helped. Finally got our food. It was not even worth half the wait. If you want good food, stay far away from here. The only reason my wife ate her food is because “im so hungry”
The food is phenomenal.
my husband is a huge bbq guy and he was very impressed with “The Bandit”.
i order the Hillybilly and OMG – the flavors of everything, it was so delicious.
we saw the sign saying Golden Fang is in the kitchen and i have to say this is a solid choice.
we will definitely be back!
It was mentioned to me, that whiskeytown BBQ opened back up. So I wanted to try it. My experience was not very good, sorta like when I tried it a little over a year ago. They were out of the food I tried to order, after almost a hour I got told this. The food I got took well over a hour to get. Also me being from Santa Maria area , I realized the beans were not authentic Santa Maria Pinquito beans, much larger then expected the individual bean size ( maybe just regular commercial pink beans) and they were watery with little flavor.
The steak I ended up getting was over cooked. And the potato was under cooked and didn’t taste good and texture was off. It was also cooked in aluminum foil which is super unhealthy ( leaching heavy metals ). If I would have known that I would not have ordered it. The service wasn’t all bad waiter was nice. Maybe it was the kitchen’s fault with wait time. Their drinks were a little stiff / strong. I’m sure a lot of people like that. But I just want a properly made drink with less alcohol and I had to drive home after my meal. I think from what they said I met the owners. They seemed nice and talkative , but also seemed to be drinking alcohol which may be why things were not on point for my experience. I liked the decor, that was a plus. It was better than their far from homemade /tastes like cheap corn syrup bbq sauce. Also besides over cooking the ribeye it had zero fat on it. It was lean as a loin. I expect some fat on my ribeye steak to aid with flavor. Not sure if or when I will try this place again. It was my 3rd bad experience there in last couple years.
This place was so much fun to visit. The decor and the old shows they had playing take you back in time. It’s very relaxed, no one is rushing you to get out. The waitresses were wonderful, I asked about the coleslaw, and they brought out a sample for me to try before ordering. We got a plate to share, I loved the beef ribs! My husband is a fan of pretzels, and he loved them as well. Overall, it was a great place to enjoy a hearty meal.
