Best experience ever. My first time here I was pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of the restaurant and I liked the decor.
I had the Pork Tocino Rice Bowl (GF) and the Tres Leche Latte. I was very happy with the presentation and flavors of both my meal and my latte.
What I especially liked was their website that detailed how the restaurant was ADA accessible. I have family that needs accessibility and to know ahead of time what is available makes choosing a place to dine at easier for me and my family.
To top off my experience at Understory Jenabi (one of the owners) was funny and pesonable. I felt comfortable and welcomed. That is why I gave this place five stars, which I rarely do.
I will be coming back!

What a beautifully curated space! I was here for a summit dinner where I got to participate in a cooking class. The food is delicious, nutritious, and satisfying. The worker-owner staff are friendly and did a wonderful job creating a welcoming space. Highly recommend this space for gatherings and dinners!

The BEST restaurant, the ambiance, the art*unique(cozy) upon the wall*, The menu was unique aswell !! > It was a joy to be sharing a meal to GooD music(the menu offers a couple meals for 2 to share). The two that waited our table were above & beyond with kindness + understory’s staff were showing just how a honorable it is working for the restaurant; we were seated by a being who pleasantly rolled >one leg’d scoot

We had a truly fantastic experience at The Understory recently. The food was absolutely incredible, and the service was amazing from start to finish.
The Banana Heart Salad was a standout. It was prepared so wonderfully that it brought back memories of my grandmother’s cooking back home—it’s a dish that isn’t showcased enough in Filipino restaurants in the Bay Area, and I was so happy to see it on their menu.
I also have to specifically call out the Pandesal with the Vegan Ube Butter. The butter was mind-blowingly good; I could have easily slurped tubs of it! Everything was served with such care and the staff were all so welcoming and attentive.

What an amazing experience! We were guests of a 24 person party and we were so welcomed by the staff. The staff here are incredibly helpful and friendly. The food was off the hook. The drinks were so unique. I even bought a few fun items in their curio shop. Please come and support this magical place! They are a gem for the community!
