Drive: if you are not the strongest driver of small loopy roads with a beautiful forest and oceanic cliff view, this may not be for you. When you get closer to the hotel the drive is about 20mph for the turns. It was amazing!

Outside hotel: The scenery is phenomenal! It is breathtaking! Tons of places to walk around and explore in nature. The view of the ocean is the most beautiful during sunset and right before the fog clears in the morning.

Rooms: I’m pretty sure I paid for the view not the room. It was really expensive for a very outdated and basic room. The bed was really lumpy so I woke up with back pains. The bathroom needed more attention to be cleaned from cleaning services. There isn’t much of tables to put things on, the side lamps are rather flimsy. So if you’re ok with the very pricey rate for a very outdated room, you’ll be ok with it.

Timber Cove was an extraordinary, breathtaking experience… and it gets a 5 star rating for its unparalleled location. We loved walking along the gorgeous hiking trails and deeply appreciated feeling immersed in nature. Our room was ideal… the bed was so comfortable, loved sitting sitting on our private, soaking in the spectacular views, and what a treat to fall asleep to the sounds of the Pacific Ocean. Only disappointment was the quality of the dinner.

Our stay at Timber Cove Resort was truly the beginning of something special – the start of our journey all the way from New York City to celebrate my love’s 30th birthday. And what a place to begin.

The location alone is enough to move you. There are moments here – standing on the cliffs, looking out at the vast, rugged Pacific – where you can’t help but feel overwhelmed by the beauty of it all. The drive from San Francisco along Highway 1 sets the tone perfectly. It reminds you just how breathtaking this country is – raw, dramatic, and completely awe-inspiring.

But what made this experience unforgettable were the people. A heartfelt thank you to Jacqueline, Avery, and Ariana for going above and beyond to make our stay so meaningful. From the champagne waiting in our room, to the beautifully personalized card for my girlfriend, to all the thoughtful little touches along the way – every detail felt intentional and full of care.

Back in our room, the cozy fireplace and record player created the perfect atmosphere – slow, intimate, and unforgettable – especially as we watched the sunset melt into the ocean and the silver moonlight take its place. It felt like something out of a dream. And those fresh cookies waiting in the lobby were such a simple but perfect touch – warm, welcoming, and exactly what you didn’t know you needed.

This wasn’t just a stay – it was a memory we’ll carry with us for years to come. We are so grateful, and we already know this is a place we’ll return to again and again.

Thank you, Timber Cove, for something truly special.

If you’re unsure about the room types (it can be a bit confusing), I recommend calling ahead—they’re patient and will walk you through the options.

We stayed in the Ocean View Junior Suite, which sits on its own and feels very private. The room has two large floor-to-ceiling windows with amazing ocean views, which really made the stay special.

The setting is very relaxing, with nice trails around the property to explore. It’s a great place to slow down and just enjoy the coast. Our bed was extremely comfortable. We also requested an extra cot, but it’s quite small and probably better suited for young kids.

The only downside for us was the food. While the on-site restaurant has strong reviews, it didn’t quite meet our expectations. There also aren’t many nearby dining options, so bringing your own snacks is a smart move.

There’s no pool or spa, but honestly, that’s part of the appeal. It’s more of a quiet retreat where you can read, unwind, and listen to the waves.
