We stayed two nights but I wish we left immediately after arrival. Some of these sites are not safe. Our site was directly on the beach, like 15′ past the high tide mark on a gentle grade. Other sites were closer, directly at the base of the bluff.
Nice to listen to the waves but this is far too close for comfort and safety, considering the Sonoma Coast’s unpredictable surf and the possibility of sneaker waves.
The campsites on the bluff above are directly at the edge of the bluff, be careful with kids.
We paid way too much, it was stupidly expensive (last minute), for a campground with dangerous sites that are packed way too closely together.
We had a wonderful stay here! The place feels a bit wild and untouched, which is exactly what makes it special. If you’re looking to disconnect from the busy world, slow down, and spend some time with your own thoughts, I highly recommend it.
There is internet available in some areas, but if you camp down by the lower sites, there’s little to no signal. Surprisingly, that was one of the best parts of the experience — it helped us truly relax and enjoy nature.
I also want to mention the owner. We had a very positive experience with her. She was friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout our stay. I noticed some reviews describing her as unfriendly, but that was definitely not our experience.
A great place to unwind, recharge, and enjoy a peaceful escape.♥️
We went the last weekend in September and the temperature was perfect! We arrived in the morning and it was foggy/hazy and by the time we had set up our tent, it had all burned off and was an absolutely beautiful day! We had the campsite in the corner of the drive down to the beach, called the “waterfall campsite”. Its more like a stream that runs behind it and it was nice and tree filled. No picnic table, but there was a fire pit and we enjoyed the spot and the close proximity to the beach without being too close (I had young children with me). They would love to go again! The shells on the beach were a bonus and we enjoyed watching the kayaks go out in the early hours to go fishing.
Gorgeous place for ocean camping. Our spot was the middle peninsula area with cliffs on all sides. Foggy but beautiful. Pitched our tent, cooked on the campfire, & went down to the beach area many times to explore the tide pools. Stayed a few nights & had the best time. Definitely a hidden gem
