What a place! I booked this on whim instead of Motel 6 because it popped and had vacancy (they were booked solid the rest of the month). For a few dollars more, I got to stay in a gorgeous and historic building, in pink, with some great views of the Carson mansion across the street, the harbor, or the garden and town of Eureka. I stayed in the Carson bedroom, which was fantastically spacious, plush and quiet. The shared bathroom was gorgeous, and sharing with other guests was no problem; there are enough restrooms for everyone. The small kitchenette downstairs along with the dining table is a little cozy, but not uncomfortable, even of there’s a bunch of strangers staying. Some cookies, bagels, bread, and coffee are provided, or you can make your own breakfast.
Although some parts of the immediate surrounding neighborhood look a little grungy, it’s perfectly safe to walk around and into town, and especially pretty walking along the harbor. I highly recommend The Pinc Lady Mansion for a unique stay in Eureka.
The Pink Lady in Eureka, California, was built in 1889 by lumber magnate William Carson as a wedding gift for his son, J. Milton Carson, and his wife. Designed by the Newsom brothers, the house is a classic example of Queen Anne Victorian architecture, featuring an ornate turret, decorative woodwork, stained-glass windows, and intricate trim. Constructed during the height of the redwood lumber industry, the mansion reflects the wealth and prosperity that timber brought to Humboldt County. Over the years, the house passed through several owners and served various purposes, but it remains one of Eureka’s most recognizable historic landmarks.
We absolutely loved our stay at The Pink Lady in Eureka, CA — what an iconic Victorian landmark! This beautiful 1889 Queen Anne mansion is stunning inside and out, full of charm and history right across from the Carson Mansion. The rooms are lovely! We booked two spacious ones, each with a comfy king bed. They were spotlessly clean and decorated simply but elegantly, with all those gorgeous historic details that make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. What really made the experience special was Jaclyn, the owner and host. She’s fantastic — super friendly and genuinely cares about this place. She gave us a personal tour and shared so many wonderful stories about the mansion’s rich history. You can tell she’s passionate about preserving The Pink Lady in all her original glory for future generations. Her thoughtful touches and warm hospitality made us feel truly welcome, like honored guests in her home.If you love historic homes and great hosts, this is the perfect spot. We can’t recommend The Pink Lady enough — we’d stay again in a heartbeat!
Oh my- if you get a chance to stay here, count yourself lucky. The location, the service, the history… the Pinc Lady is a gem in the city of Eureka. Within walking distance to amazing food and, if you come at the right time of year, festivities.
A true blessing!!!
This spot was such a meaningful and beautiful stay. Jacquline and Mario are attentive, kind hosts, whose passion for restoring the space is so apparent and appreciated.
Walking down the stairs in the house had me feeling like Eliza Doolittle and Pollyanna — the atmosphere was both elegant and cozy.
Highly recommend the turret room — its front row view of the Carson Mansion was an exciting and captivating perk.
They have options for shared or private restrooms. Our experience of the shared restroom with others guests was clean, easy, and completely comfortable.
