Very disappointed. I booked this for me an my wife 14 anniversary. No one on site until 3 pm. It’s advertised as bed and breakfast but we get vouchers to a bakery for our anniversary day and the last night the person is here for breakfast to make it. The room has wallpaper peeling and looks like it has not been maintenance for a long Time. I doubt I come back.
Mold, pubes, and spiders in the bathroom. Our nightstands still had water rings from the cups used by the previous tenant. The television was on when we walked in and Netflix doesn’t work.
We were really disappointed with our stay at The Mill Rose Inn in Half Moon Bay. What was advertised as a quaint bed and breakfast felt much more like an underwhelming Airbnb experience.
Check-in is limited to a strict 4–6 PM window, and outside of that there is essentially no staff on-site. Upon arrival, we were told breakfast wouldn’t be available at the inn and were instead given vouchers for a nearby bakery with very limited, dine-in-only options.
The common areas are beautiful and well maintained, which initially gave us high hopes. Unfortunately, our room did not live up to that standard. It had a strong “old house” smell, and while we understand the property is historic, it felt more neglected and dated than charming. The carpets were visibly dirty, and there were multiple signs of poor upkeep—peeling wallpaper, dirty floorboards, and crooked wall décor.
Housekeeping was also lacking. During our 4-night stay, we never received fresh towels or trash service. Even on days when we removed the “Do Not Disturb” sign and saw staff nearby, no one serviced the room. It was also surprising to find a tip envelope in the room given the lack of service.
For the price, this stay was not worth it. Overall, we left feeling very disappointed and would not recommend it.
Amazing little place. The rooms were very nice, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Everything is walking distance. They team up with an amazing breakfast. Pricing was fair, and they offered a military discount. Absolutely, I would recommend and will definitely stay here again. Their cocktail hour is super fun with great staff.
Came for our anniversary and what a treat! It’s very romantic and cozy. Our room has a fire place and lots of windows. The place is surrounded by gardens and beautiful patios. There is lots of areas to lounge and relax. They also have drinks available like tea, coffee, and wine. I was bummed that they don’t serve breakfast, and they gave us vouchers to go to a restaurant down the street. The location is also great, close to HMB Main street where restaurants and shops are.
Overall we found this place to be magical and charming and would come back again!
