I ordered a Ruben sandwich and I am seriously disappointed! First there’s virtually no sauerkraut and what little there is had no taste. They did not use Russian dressing and they put such a small amount of thousand Island on it. The corned beef and cheese are both good. However, the biggest disappointment is the burned bread. I would have expected them to get this part right even if nothing else was! Instead I’m looking at black bread from them forgetting to turn it or remove it in time!
I have had many other items from Mel’s and I have not been disappointed but for the premium price I expect premium food, not sadly disappointed because they didn’t put in a little effort to fix the really good corned beef correctly!

We mostly do takeout as the place is usually pretty crowded. Very recently when they stopped taking online orders. Things seem to have changed for the worse. The chicken sandwich was super tough and the omelette was bare bones literally like 3 slices of avocado and a glop of cream! Hopefully it gets better but it sure has pushed us away from our favorite local breakfast spot:(
