I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the food and atmosphere here. Between 2 of us, we shared 4 plates and 3 drinks. I think this was plenty of food and i good starting point to see if you want to order more. All were so delicious and had no regrets on anything we ordered. Jacob was a great server. I’ll definitely be coming back and sorry I’ve been missing out until now!

The best dinner in the Tri-valley, hands down! Delicious, innovative, and comforting small plates (always changing!), creative and yummy cocktails, fun wine list, kind and attentive staff, and great atmosphere. We come here often and always bring out of towners.

My husband and I found The Black Cat for our date night last night and it did not disappoint. It’s tucked in a cute spot on First Street opposite the fountain and has front patio, indoor, and back patio seating. We chose to sit inside because it was pretty chilly outside.
We started with cocktails. My cocktail was the Yuja Sun. It was perfectly mixed and had such a fresh and summery taste without being too sweet or too bitter. My husband asked our server for suggestions and ended up with the Siamese Sake Sour. This was beautifully served in a cocktail glass with a cucumber ribbon garnish. It was very tasty and summery.
We shared one snack and four small plates. It was the perfect amount of food and we didn’t have room for dessert. We started with the Wingen bakery sourdough (at the server’s suggestion to go along with the summer peaches) and the caviar chip (note this is actually only one potato chip so we did order two of these). The caviar chip was delicious and elegant and added a lot of luxury to our meal. The other plates we got were the crudo, the Japanese sweet potato, the summer peaches, and the whipped feta. Each dish was beautifully plated and presented. Flavors were all a great balance of sweet and savory. My favorite dishes was the summer peaches (peaches, cherries, ricotta, prosciutto) and the crudo. But really everything was amazing. Can’t wait to go back and try some new stuff (especially a new drink).

It is a pirate theme til early November, seemed a little light on decor but we appreciated the theme drinks and tiki bowls!
Food:
Upcharge for bread is quite a bit imo but it is still delish.
Crudo both times on point.
Whipped feta is good but you better love it.
Definitely more a light bites type of place.

Went for an evening dinner and ordered their Smoked Duroc Pork Belly and Japanese Sweet Potato. Their “small plate” style made it easy to share a couple dishes between two people and the food was delectable. To drink we ordered their Yuja Sun and Blackberry Sage Smash which were refreshing and just right for a summer evening. The atmosphere was sophisticated but laid back with tasteful lighting and excellent service.
