Probably the worst National Park campground I’ve been in. The sites are small, incredibly close together with no vegetation or trees between them. The sites are so close that we had constant smoke from our neighbors fires and there really was no possibility of any privacy. Also, we had a tent site but there was no tent pad and no flat ground anywhere in our site. There was an also huge group site nearby with very loud people. The bathrooms are just outhouses, though they were pretty clean for pit toilets. Also, there are no services anywhere close, so no place to buy ice or essentials and zero cell service. The nearby lake is lovely and the area is beautiful but the campground is pretty disappointing.
Great spot for a hike around the lake. You have great views of Mount Lassen from the back side of the lake. There is parking available for day use and the trail is pretty easy.
Camped at both North and South campground. South was very nice, pretty shaded, and quieter in my opinion. We stayed right next to the lake and it was amazing. Our site was fairly sloped though and not the best for tenting. North was much flatter but we were back a bit from the lake. All sites have fire rings and you can collect downed wood for fires which beats paying $11 for a box at the camp store. No electric, only water spigots around the campground. Worked out pretty good though.

Campground next to the marvellous lake. A small and relaxing picnic spot in the area with a bunch of tables and bonfire / barbeque place

Nice campsite, fairly close to the beautiful summit lake. You get awesome views of the lake if you take a full round around it.
