Spent a wonderful 3 nights here. Lots of beach walking and campfire making. Beautiful campground where you can even see planes land and take off. Bathrooms are amazingly clean and the staff is super friendly.
Wildlife galore: deer, friendly skunk, sea lions barking (very cute).
We took our 34 foot trailer – as long as you take it easy you will safely make it down to (and back up from) Shelter Cove.
    Stay a while and enjoy!

Shelter Cove Campground is an absolute gem! The location couldn’t be better—it’s just a stone’s throw from the ocean, making it easy to enjoy the incredible coastal views and the relaxing sound of the waves.
One of the highlights was the deli. They serve great coffee that’s perfect for starting your day, and their plate-sized cinnamon rolls are legendary. They’re fresh, delicious, and more than enough to share (if you want to!).
The staff were some of the friendliest people we’ve met. They were welcoming, helpful, and genuinely seemed to care that everyone had a great stay.
If you’re looking for a beautiful campground with amazing amenities, fantastic people, and unbeatable access to the coast, Shelter Cove Campground is a must-visit. We can’t wait to come back!

This is definitely a little slice of heaven. If you don’t mind the 23 mile drive on & off the US101 through Redwoods & hills & curves then you should love it here. The ocean views are nice ( not unobstructed) but nice. Hearing the waves crashing upon the shore while sitting at the fire was so relaxing. The showers were very clean as were the bathrooms. I had dinner in the deli/restaurant which was very good. In the morning I ordered a homemade cinnamon roll with my coffee and I really don’t think life gets much better. The two ladies that manage the campground are so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this campground and I will return.

We found this place as we were driving the cost of California visiting the redwoods. The location is perfect for those looking to get away from a busy life and take things slow in nature for a bit.

We were running behind and worried the gates would close on us- they close at 9 and our gps had us arriving at 9:02. I was able to call ahead and the lady was warm and friendly and had the gateman hold it for us until 905.

The drive down the mountain to the campground was breathtaking as the sunset between mountains and trees on a thick layer of fog.

Arriving to the campground and finding our site was easy. WiFi and Showers included in your stay. Bathrooms/bath house was kept clean and had hot water.
There was laundry on site but we did not check that out.

We woke up to the sound of seals and eagerly jumped out of bed to see them. We walked a short distance, past a picturesque lighthouse, to a coffee house and had a yummy breakfast and great lattes while watching the seals and beach.

This was a perfect start to our trip and we won’t forget it.

Had a great two-night stay at Shelter Cove RV Campground. It’s challenging to get to because of the steep grades and switchbacks, but once we were on site everything was great! The Host came out to meet us and loaned us a lighter to light the firewood we had requested. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and genuinely seemed to want to help make our stay comfortable. Bathrooms were clean, water pressure and hot water were good. Power, water and sewer worked as advertised and Wi-Fi was good, which was great as I had no cell service to speak of. Overall, a really enjoyable experience, despite the somewhat harrowing drive in (in a rented camper van!)
