I lost one of my dogs in November and felt my surviving pet really was lethargic so I thought she needed a sister. I filled out an application but the dog was adopted by someone else. The shelter let me know that the next time they got one in that they would call me. They did and I met and adopted Pretzel (now Rio). She is a lookalike to my current dog Indigo and they are fast friends already and seem to very much enjoy each other. Rio has caught onto the house rules quickly, she was housetrained already so that was a plus. She’s smart and healthy and a joy. Thank you everyone there particularly Maddie who went that extra step and got this angel adopted
I came in today with a beautiful dog I found on the street, over the weekend. It was easy to give them the information and get him in thanks to the police department. In the facility, I told them how I found the dog and everything went smoothly. I told him that I started calling him bear because I had him for a couple days and he responded very positively to the name. Their immediate response was “Okay, Well, you don’t have to call him that anymore. We’ll give him another name.” Which in my opinion was rude because I genuinely care about the wellbeing of this dog that I saved. In my efforts to figure out what to do with this stray dog, I reached out to my friend who I know does foster work for animal shelters, she was the one that very kindly told me to call the police department. The animal services center decided to reach out to her and question me and ask her if the dog was mine or not. Looking for help for a stray animal isn’t always easy, because you never know if the animal will be taken care of or not. They did the most by reaching out to my friend and questioning Her about me. That was absolutely uncalled for. What if I find another animal? am I going be comfortable bringing him here?I don’t know we’ll see. I felt judged as if I was giving up an animal of my own. It was not the case. I hope Bear finds a good home, I’m so happy and lucky to have been the person to find him and bring him to safety. He is a German Shepard, Husky mix I believe. Please go look for him and take him in he is a sweetheart.
I love the RPAS! I adopted my first kitten there back in the 90s naming him Romeo. He was a little b&w tuxedo fluff ball. He lived a long life of 18 years. I just adopted a new kitten yesterday from them, naming her Cleopatra, but she goes by Cleo. She is absolutely stunningly beautiful and insanely adorable! Both my experiences of adopting from this shelter have been impressive and delightful. They set you up in a visitation room to get acquainted with your pet of interest, and they take the time to give you written and verbal instructions on how best to go forward with your new pet. Kind staff and volunteers assist you from start to finish.
I also volunteer there once a week cleaning dog kennels and find the work rewarding for body, mind & soul. It is an extremely well-run shelter with good people running it. Adopt before buying!!!
They had parrot for adoption we looked at it and loved it. they told us it got in the same day we were there and no one yet put application for it, and we have to wait 7 days in case some one ask for it. We called in 2 days later to have my son go see it and some internal employee already took it home. They did not have to wait 7 days why did they lie to us? is that their habbit anything they want they take?
I have adopted multiple animals from this place over the years. I actually ended up meeting/adopting my soul dog from here too. They take VERY good care of their animals. Very compationate, friendly, and knowledgeable staff. Would definitely recommend this place for your next fur baby.
