Rasoi is an interesting concept. I’m not sure whether to interpret Rasoi as a traditional Indian joint or a finger-food lounge or a cocktail lounge with some Indian twist. And in the midst of it trying to be all of the above, it fails to sparkle in any particular way. The interior is laid out like a restaurant, but the decor feels like a lounge, and then the food is a mixture of small tapa-style Indian finger-food that go well with drinks while also offering serious main courses. Essentially, you are confused even before you start your meal.
The saving grace for Rasoi however is the food. They have a solid line up and also some progressive hybrids (ie. lamb-stuffed naan?). The classics do not betray the orthodox line of cooking but they are not afraid to try out things that may make more sense to the America palate. And they manage to pull it off in an Indian way.
The food overall is a bit bland but that may actually be better fit for the wider Burlingame crowd. You aren’t in Sunnyvale or Santa Clara so you might as well cater to an international and American crowd. It sure is tasty, but some true Indians may feel a bit betrayed.
The price point came in good as well, considering the food, and the novelty.
Rasoi is definitely interesting and I’m willing to give it another go for happy hour or team drinks. I’m still a bit on the fence for visiting it for a serious Indian meal, but perhaps that’s okay. Rasoi has a hybrid, slightly confusing posture and maybe that really is okay. Out of nothing distinctive, comes something unique.

Excellent food great quality! Really enjoyed the Tandoori chicken and Dal Paneer, very tasty. Service was even better the bartender/manager Lucky was so competent and friendly and really stands by the restaurant with confidence. Great place to check out when you’re in town looking for a good place

We just happened by this place and were extremely surprised with the service and the food! The tandoori prawns were fire, and the mango lassi was basically dessert. So good. Loved the experience and would definitely come back again for another date night.

Had Happy Hour on Friday. Plenty of seats. The tandoori wings ($11) were served on a sizzling plate over red onions. The samosas ($6) were yummy.

Amazing flavor ! Amazing texture!
The chicken tikka had every flavor perfectly accenting one another. The Goat cheese Naan was melting in your mouth with each second of pleasure as you were tasting it.
The vibe was nice too. It had a luxury feeling to it without the crazy pricing.
