We tried this place on suggestion from a long time friend and Japanese food aficionado. Their food is exceptional. Sashimi quality is the best we have had in the Concord/Walnut Creek Danville area dine Joe’s sushi. Had the Bluefin special. Very well prepared/good quality. We’ve been back from our second 10 day trip to Tokyo within the last year and really appreciate the effort to have a true Izakaya vibe and experience. Their menu is pretty extensive, the Ama Ebi is sweet, and they deep fry and present the heads like they are supposed to. Their sign in system is efficient, we only had to wait about 15 minutes. Parking is in the attached lot that says it’s for the “Korean bbq”. It’s ok, it’s Nobuya’s parking. They take reservations for 6 or more. It’s not super fancy, more like you would find in an outlying Tokyo neighborhood, homey feeling, staff are very pleasant. We went back and brought our friends, 3 days later! (Their Omakase sampler is the dish with 9 types of Sashimi, very good, we ordered it each time we were there)

Fresh sushi, chirashi, and honestly every dish I tried was amazing. The quality of the fish was super fresh and everything tasted really authentic. I especially loved the omakase for two — such a great variety and every piece came out beautifully prepared. You can really tell they care about the details here.

The staff were also incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. I was so surprised (in a good way) to find Suntory Premium draft beer here too. It paired perfectly with the sushi.

I only stopped by for lunch this time, but now I definitely want to come back for dinner and experience more of the izakaya vibe. This is easily going to become my go-to sushi spot.

We went to Nobuya last night and had an excellent experience. The atmosphere was beautiful, calm, and relaxing, with soft piano music playing in the background. It gave the place a high end feel without feeling stuffy.

I have been coming to this location for years, back when it was the Korean restaurant, and I honestly could not believe how nice it turned out after the remodel by the new owners. They did an amazing job transforming the space.

The food was outstanding. Everything we ordered was fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. We had the omakase sashimi selection, a kids bento box, and a combo meal, and every item was excellent. You can really tell they care about quality and presentation.

The service was also excellent, friendly, attentive, and professional. They were still in soft opening, but the team handled everything professionally and made the experience very enjoyable.

Between the food, service, and atmosphere, this was a fantastic experience all around. We will definitely be back.
