Very outdated and not well maintained. If you do the ocean view suite there is a nice view but getting to the room is interesting via narrow steep stairs. Staff not particularly helpful. Had an almost day long power outage with no water in addition to no electricity obviously. Not that that was their fault but they were not helpful during it.
Plumbing was inadequate even when there was water. Dirty feel to the whole place.
I stayed for one night in November, and the experience was disappointing. The room felt very old, with unsettling photos on the walls, and the floor squeaked loudly with every step. I could hear constant noise from the rooms above and next door, which made it difficult to sleep the entire night. Although the location is nice, the room itself was far from what I expected based on the photos I saw on Google Maps. The furniture and bed were extremely outdated and didn’t feel clean. Overall, the stay did not match the advertised appearance and wasn’t comfortable.
When we arrived the reception desk was unattended and we had to wait 10 min. The hotel feels like something from 1950. No air conditioning and top floor doors get very hot. No mosquito nets on windows. Slanted roof above the bed makes you afraid to hit your had. Fragile electric outlets. Lo elevators. No breakfast. Wifi works, thanks God. Location is central but be aware of potential noise from the street if you open your windows. It is 2 star hotel at most, not 3.
Booked this hotel at the last minute on a Road Trip. Really interesting and unique place. It will take you back in time to the 70’s…well, the 1870’s! There was a sink in the room, but the bathrooms with showers were in the hallway. I was skeptical but they were clean, lockable, and can only be used by 1 person at a time, I had no trouble showering in the morning. Room was connected to a wraparound porch overlooking the bay, which was perfect for having coffee (served in hotel lobby) in the morning. If they renovate this place, as some other reviewers have mentioned, I hope it doesn’t lose its charm and uniqueness.
Beautiful old hotel across from an open ocean side park. As I was checking in a local walking ghost tour stopped in. This was a last minute road trip stop, cheapest room in town. Shared bathroom but not what you’d think – there are 4 common bathrooms in the hall just outside the room, all very clean and private. Some of the outlets in the room didn’t work and the bed was a little creaky, but the charm, location, super friendly staff, price, and view all more than made up for it. Would recommend and stay again.
