Yes, Marla SR is a bakery — but don’t let that fool you into thinking a muffin is your only option. Breakfast and lunch are served daily (except Tuesday and Wednesday, when Marla presumably rests and reflects on how good her bread is), and now Saturday evenings bring a dinner service starting at 5 PM. No reservations, counter service only, which honestly feels appropriate for a place this unpretentious.

The chicken sandwich deserves its own paragraph. Tender sliced breast, cooked to actual perfection, served on Marla’s own bread — which, if you’ve had it, you know is doing a lot of heavy lifting in an already great sandwich.

The devoted regulars here have the slightly smug energy of people who discovered something before you did, and they’re not wrong. Three separate seating areas mean you can find your spot, settle in, and join the cult. Resistance is futile and also unnecessary because the food is excellent.

What a local gem in the heart of SR! Possibly the best pastries we’ve ever had (including France) in a little cafe with a great vibe and super nice people. Don’t forget to try the Crebbles and the Crebblecino. Will be back for sure.

This place is absolutely one of my favorite pastries and their cappuccino is great. We had it for one day and liked it so much that we came back the next day. Unfortunately the next day they were almost ran out of everything (chocolate crosspoint and avocado toast) in store. So if you want to have their pastry make sure to arrive early.

We went on a Sunday so my wife and I were about the 6th and 7th people in line but the line moved pretty quickly and nothing had sold out. The sticky bun was MASSIVE that my wife and I easily split it for breakfast and I had the Marla Crebblecino for $7 but it was delicious! If we had stayed in SR for more than 2 mornings, we would’ve been repeat customers for sure!

Marla is a hidden gem. The door is simplistic and humble, yet once step into it, be awed by a charming space to relax, sip, connect, or simply be.

I’m a visitor and nonetheless I was welcomed by the Marla team with a friendly smile, a warm Cardamom Mint Latte, and a housemade Almond Butter Toast drizzled with local honey. All honest ingredients, made with heart and caring hands. With gratitude, I am well nourished.

I fell for the corner table the moment I stepped in, and called it the poet’s corner. There, I had a great time people watching and penning some lines, thanking a space like this exists like a miracle, comforting traveling souls on their journeys of all kinds.
