When my husband and I have a restaurant staple like Las Fajitas, we tend to go to that restaurant and order the food we know we love every time. That’s true with Las Fajitas. We know what we like. Carnitas and Al pastor is a favorite. My husband always orders the regular size tacos with only onions and cilantro. I order the Newport burrito wet with shredded beef. (It’s big and makes two meals for me). Sometimes we order the quesadilla. Delicious. The food is always fresh, there is a good selection at their salsa bar, and the carrots/cauliflower are the best. Chips are served with every meal, and this is the only reason for the “4” rating for food. They are unappealing, hard, or possibly stale. When you go to Mexican food restaurant, you look forward to the chips and salsa. It’s a much needed improvement here. The dining room is often empty, but don’t let that fool you. We finally asked why so few people are there every time we dine. They told us they do lots and lots of catering. That explains the very fresh ingredients. That’s also the reason you have to ring the bell to order. The hostess and the cook are always in the back working on catering orders. It’s good to know that they’ll be around, despite their quiet atmosphere in the restaurant! Find what you like! You’ll return again and again.

My mind is blown by how incredibly fresh and delicious the food is here. This spot is literally a hole in the wall and within aa walking distance of our motel. We ordered a combination plate of a child relleno, enchiladas and a asada taco w/ rice and beans, an extra asada taco and al pastor taco. The chille relleno is flavor ful, juicy and goes great with its tomate sauce. The enchilada was good, just a plain cheese, and the taco de asada….. wow, the meat was tender and juicy, perfectly seasoned. The taco de pastor was good as well. The have a salsa bar with different salsas, condiments a d toppings. Their pickled carrot are a must try! Also keep in mind the quality and size of the food is a perfect deal on the price.

Stepping into Las Fajitas in Lake Forest felt like visiting an old friend’s home – it’s clear this is a genuinely family-owned and run establishment, radiating warmth and hospitality. My recent dinner experience there truly exceeded expectations, making it a hidden gem that deserves far more recognition.

The food, first and foremost, is simply amazing. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and was clearly made to order, arriving hot and perfectly presented. I dove into the tacos, and they were delicious, packed with flavor. The portions are generous, offering excellent value for the price, especially considering the quality. A definite highlight is their fantastic salsa bar, which boasts a wide variety of fresh, vibrant options. While I found most salsas to be fantastic, there was one with a slightly unusual consistency that leaned a bit too much into vinegar for my personal taste, but the sheer array means there’s something for everyone.

Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive, contributing to the overall pleasant atmosphere. It’s a great spot for families, and they even offer commendable vegetarian options, with most dishes adaptable without meat. Plus, the convenience of plenty of free parking is a huge bonus. Las Fajitas is a place I’d highly recommend for anyone craving authentic, fresh, and well-priced Mexican food.
