I had a really enjoyable meal at La Viga Seafood & Cocina Mexicana. True to its description, the restaurant has a very warm, cozy vibe that makes for a great casual dining experience.

The food was fresh and full of comforting Mexican flavors. We started off with crisp tortilla chips and a creamy salsa dip. This paired perfectly with the hearty bowl of fresh guacamole topped generously with crumbled cheese.

For the mains, the seafood really shined. The grilled fish (salmon) taco was fantastic. We also ordered the chicken enchiladas which were incredibly comforting. They came smothered in a rich, flavorful red sauce and crema, accompanied by classic black beans and rice.

Overall, it was a very solid dining experience with great presentation and tasty dishes. I would definitely come back!

Great experience overall. The food was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive, but the real highlight was the mixology. The cocktails were creative, well-balanced, and expertly crafted. Definitely a spot worth coming back to for the drinks and atmosphere.

La Viga Seafood & Cocina Mexicana absolutely lived up to the hype. The atmosphere has a fun, energetic vibe and the food was phenomenal from start to finish.

We started with the ceviche trio, which was easily one of the highlights of the night. Each ceviche had its own flavor profile. One was bright and citrusy with super fresh fish, another balanced sweet mango with a subtle habanero kick, and the shrimp aguachile brought that clean lime-and-chile heat that kept you going back for more.

We also ordered a mix of pescado, carne, and pollo tacos, and every single one was packed with flavor. Fresh tortillas, well-seasoned proteins, and really balanced toppings across the board.

To drink, I ordered their sangria, which tasted authentic, fresh, and perfectly blended—not overly sugary like a lot of places make it. We also did a couple tequila shots, which completed the experience perfectly.

La Viga really delivers on elevated coastal Mexican seafood while still feeling approachable and lively. Definitely one of the standout dining spots in Redwood City.

I recently visited La Viga Seafood & Cocina Mexicana on Broadway in downtown Redwood City, a well-known spot for Baja-style seafood and coastal Mexican cuisine. The restaurant sits right in the heart of the downtown dining corridor, making it an easy stop if you are exploring the area or coming from nearby Palo Alto or San Mateo.

The atmosphere at La Viga Seafood & Cocina Mexicana feels lively but relaxed. The dining room has a bright, coastal aesthetic that reflects the seafood-focused menu. The space feels casual but polished enough for a proper sit-down meal rather than just a quick taco stop.

To start, we ordered a trio of ceviches presented on a long tasting platter. Each one had a distinct personality. One leaned bright and citrusy with red onion and avocado, another incorporated mango for a slightly sweet balance, and the green aguachile-style preparation had a fresh herbaceous heat. The seafood tasted very fresh and the acidity was well balanced.

We also tried the taco trio which included a crispy fish taco, a battered shrimp taco, and a steak taco topped with salsa and queso fresco. The seafood tacos were the highlight, with light batter and vibrant toppings that kept everything balanced.

Another standout was the fried calamari served with a green dipping sauce and lime. The coating was crisp without being overly heavy.

To finish, we shared churros with chocolate sauce, a classic dessert that ended the meal on a simple but satisfying note.

Having eaten seafood and ceviche across Latin America and coastal markets around the world, La Viga Seafood & Cocina Mexicana does a solid job representing Baja-inspired seafood flavors in the Bay Area.

Overall, La Viga Seafood & Cocina Mexicana delivers fresh seafood, bright flavors, and a comfortable atmosphere that makes it a reliable option when you are craving coastal Mexican cuisine in Redwood City.
