We stayed in the Cypress Cottage and it was great! Very clean, great little kitchenette with a fridge, coffee maker, toaster, dishes and small stove. Great coffee and coffee maker too! Darling welcome package for our dog and he loved the fireplace. Quiet, comfortable and very private feeling. Easy remote check in and check out. Short 5 minutes to Mendocino for meals. We could even see the ocean from the kitchenette window! We’d definitely stay here again if we come back to the area.

Big fan of the Inn at Schoolhouse Creek. First off, they are dog friendly, not just in terms of allowing dogs bit there’s so many doggy clean up stations! Very convenient. We had the pleasure of staying in the Garden Cottage. Overall very pleasant experience. The shower does feel cramped if you’re a big person (6’4″, 210lbs; I only had so much freedom to move). The pictures I uploaded were taken upon checkout, please excuse the mess. The deck/patio was private and quiet. Comfortable bed, spacious room.

We had a lovely visit here recently! We initially booked at one of their other locations based off the photos on the website. Well we decided to extend our stay and we called to add more time. Well that particular cabin was not available. However, they recommended the Heather Cottage and it we loved it. They were so nice and helpful over the phone. And our dogs felt very welcomed!! They loved the dog bed and spent a lot of time there by the windows. It was very cozy. The bed was extremely comfortable. There was a lot of storage even like a small shelf in the bathroom which offered a place to put all my beauty/makeup/toiletries. We also loved the dresser and closet. I personally do not like digging through a suitcase while on vacation. The stove didn’t really work. We were warm enough but there was no ambiance from the stove. I wanted to turn off the lights and use the flame light for ambience/mood but it didn’t really get a flame. I didn’t ask for help, however so I’m not sure if it was user error.

I never leave reviews but I had to for this one. 5 stars all the way! Quiet, serene location while still being close to town. We loved all the different cottages and can’t wait to experience different ones! We stayed in the Cypress and it was perfect with a dog. I’ve never stayed in such a dog friend hotel before and it was a breath of fresh air. Sitting in the kitchenette you get a little view of the ocean. We were here during a rain storm and while it was still beautiful, we would love to experience this place in the summer. The communication leading up and the contactless check in worked really well. We cant wait to visit again!

If you are looking for a romantic and unique home base for a Mendocino exploration, look no further than the Water Tower Cottage at the Inn at Schoolhouse Creek. Bonus points if looking for the perfect couples spot with a small dog – the inn + room is pup friendly with a small private garden yard for him to run around. You have your own private water tower for watching the sunset over the Pacific (perfect spot for wine + picnic) and stargazing throughout the night. The base of the Water Tower houses a private jacuzzi / hot tub! I spent a lot of time researching options and am so happy to have landed on this inn and room. They also have hammocks around property for lounging. The drive to Mendocino took 5-10 minutes and am super grateful to have stayed with a view of the ocean for sunset and the stars as opposed to in the heart of town. We picked up groceries in town and brought them back to enjoy at our cottage.
