Golden State Cider Taproom is a pleasant taproom located in The Barlow in Sebastopol, offering a wide variety of hard ciders along with indoor and outdoor seating. During our visit, we sampled several ciders through a tasting flight, which was a great way to compare different styles and flavors.
My favorites were Gingergrass and Arkansas Black, although all of the ciders we tried were well made and enjoyable. The space is open, comfortable, and well suited for relaxing with friends or taking a break while exploring The Barlow.
One helpful tip: many of the ciders are around 7% alcohol, so they are stronger than some people might expect. If you’re visiting, consider taking some time to walk around The Barlow and enjoy the area before getting back on the road.
I am visiting the area with my dad, and this was not on our carefully crafted list of places to try- we were across the street at Crooked Goat (also amazing btw). I figured we would bop in for a taste of something, but ended up with a flight, and several small sips of other options, with THE BEST service from Shoshanna (sorry if I butchered the spelling!!). Incredible hospitality, incredible cider (grabbed some to bring back to TN which means it’s worth having to check my bag), and such a chill vibe- played checkers with my dad as we sipped on our flight. If I lived here, this would be a regular on my roster. Do not think twice, just go visit??
I’ve had their ciders before but never been to this location.
Since it was my first time here, we decided to order a flight. I think we got pineapple, guava, Jamaica, and one other flavor. We really liked the guava and pineapple, so later, we ordered a couple of those.
The ciders are good, and I love that they have board games to play while you hang out. The tables were clean, and there was a decent amount of seating.
The only issue was the service. The lady at the bar seemed distant and not very friendly. She didn’t give us any reccomendation and barely spoke to us.
I do like ciders. They are one of my favorite drinks, if not my favorite, so I will definitely be back. But from now on, I won’t expect good/friendly service. If anything changes, it will just be a nice surprise.
We LOVE Golden State Cider! Emma’s Thursday night trivia is why we keep coming back (aside from the fact that the drinks are delicious). She livens this place up, brings a crowd, & makes it worth a fun evening out spent on drinks & shenanigans!
But let’s be real – you can buy GSC in the local grocery stores. It’s the crew at GSC that make this place so special and why my husband, myself, & friends make time to go there in person on a weekly basis (if not more…)
Michelle is beyond amazing! Always friendly and such an amazing soul! Stephanie too! And a shout out to the rest of the crew who we see outside of Thursday night trivia. You guys are amazing & we are so thankful for you!!

Stopped by while on vacation and the ciders were great, the pineapple one especially! Cute little place!
