Wow – as a vegan from the south I never thought I would find this southern cooking gem in CA!! This food was stellar. Everything is vegan, except if you get a meal with eggs on it. The cheesy grits with tofu were so flavorful and hearty. We had vegan beignets with a nice tart jam & coffee chocolate and they were to die for. Not to mention the beautiful scenery, sweet staff and fast service on a crowded day. Do not miss this place!
Loved this restaurant!! The atmosphere is whimsy with a touch of Louisiana. We had the pleasure of one of the owners, Erica, being our server. But the whole staff was attentive and kind. The food was outstanding! I’ve been vegan for 12 years and this was one of my favorite meals of all time. I had the fried mushroom dinner plate. My whole family loved everything we ordered. The desserts were some of the best too! Wish we lived closer, but if we ever make the trip this way, we will go back! I even had tried to book our hotel room walking distance from this place before I even tried it. I will try again next time too ☺️
Loved our dinner at Fog Eater Cafe. The retro‑Southern vibe is charming, and the menu is full of creative, beautifully executed vegan small plates and entrées. I had the mushrooms‑and‑mashed‑potatoes dish, which was outstanding — the battered mushrooms had a nostalgic, almost KFC‑like crunch in the best possible way. Dessert was a highlight too; the banana pudding was pure indulgence.
Fresh local flowers at every table were a wonderful touch (see photo).
The servers were genuinely friendly, and the co‑owner even stopped by to share the story behind the café, which made the experience feel personal and welcoming.
Some of the best plant-based food I’ve ever had. Every dish I had was delicious. The biggest two stand-outs for me were the fried mushroom main, and the beignets dessert. They also had a lovely non-alcoholic drink selection. Service was excellent. They have a dog-friendly outdoor space.
Hands done one of my favorite meals this year (and maybe the past 10 years). We sat at the counter and enjoyed wonderful service – and some great jokes – from the team at Fog eater.
The Mac and cheese was divine. The seasonal small plate delighted, and it was a two way tie for most favorite dish. The gigante beans with grits and the seasonal pie were outstanding. The flavor combinations and presentation of the overall meal brought an actual tear to my eye. Thank you for hustling so hard, bringing such care to your ingredients and making your restaurant fun and welcoming.
