We recently visited Pukhtan Dum for the first time, and overall it was a great experience. Since it was our first visit, we didn’t realize that the food takes about 30–50 minutes to prepare, so it would have been helpful to know that in advance.
That said, the food was absolutely worth the wait—everything was fresh and delicious. A special shoutout to the owner, who went above and beyond to provide excellent customer service and made us feel very welcome. Our server was also friendly, attentive, and did a fantastic job.
The only downside was the restroom. I’m not sure if it was because we visited on a busy weekend, but it wasn’t as clean as we expected. Hopefully, that’s something that can be improved.
Overall, I would still give Pukhtan Dum 5 stars for the amazing food and outstanding hospitality. We’ll definitely be back!

Great experience, authentic Pakistani / Lahori food. The chef told us about the authentic spices used in the food, and you can definitely taste it! Portions are great.
Malai chicken boti – so soft, tender, juicy, flavorful, delicious, our favorite dish
Tandoori chicken boti – just like the malai chicken boti but the traditional tandoori flavor instead
Butter chicken – if you’ve had butter chicken before, you still need to give this a try. Amazing flavor, not like other butter chickens I’ve had. 2nd favorite dish
Chicken makhni – another stew type dish like the butter chicken, great flavor, I enjoyed the cashews in this
Kheer (rice pudding dessert) – so flavorful, perfect amount of sweetness
Naan (bread) – so soft! Loved it
Mint margarita mocktail – so good! It’s hard to find a good mocktail. This one tastes very fresh, not too sweet

I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into this building and learned these were two different restaurants.
The staff member was very kind and informed me of specials they had for lunch. I was very happy with the portion size, flavors and overall presentation. The atmosphere was great, except when the music suddenly stopped. Keep it going and keep cooking the way you are, this meal was delicious!

Fantastic food and a great overall experience. My family prefers milder flavors, and they absolutely nailed it—perfect balance without compromising on taste. The owner, Imran, is incredibly warm and welcoming, which makes the experience even better.
The standout for us was the tandoori roti and naan—easily some of the best we’ve had in California so far. We ordered the mutton karahi, chicken karahi, chicken boti, and malai boti, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care.
I’m really looking forward to coming back.
