I have been coming to this service center for 6 years for all of my repairs. Once my warranty ended, the bills started to get extraordinarily expensive, with the most recent routine repair bill (addressing mostly fluid and related parts replacement) at $4.7K. My car has less than 60K miles. Customer service is terrible–they outsource to a company located in a different state and it is not possible to talk with someone in the shop when you call, but customer service employees are not able to assist customers with anything even as simple as setting up a shuttle service.

I would give this service department zero stars if I could.

This isn’t my first Subaru, and I’ve been very happy with the brand, which makes this service experience especially disappointing.

Earlier this year, I brought my Ascent in for nearly $7,000 worth of service because I assumed the dealership would be the safest, most reliable place for major work. That was an expensive mistake.

One of the simplest items was replacing the windshield wiper blades. They replaced one and left the other old, visibly damaged blade in place. When I called, I was told it was “no problem” and to bring the car back. Months later, the explanation changed: first I was told they only replaced one because they didn’t have the other blade, then I was told, “We never replace just one blade.”

    So which is it?

This weekend, our battery died for an unrelated reason. When we opened the hood, we found the left strut tower cap missing, the brake fluid reservoir cap off and sitting on the engine, and the right strut tower cap also off and sitting on the engine.

When I called, I was told they “never remove” the strut tower caps and that nothing could be done unless they saw the engine.

At this point, the issue is not a wiper blade or caps. If obvious, basic items were missed or left incomplete, how am I supposed to trust that the thousands of dollars of less-visible work I paid for was done carefully and correctly?

One more thing: when I picked up the car, the service representative pulled me aside and asked me for a positive survey response while acknowledging that employees were not supposed to do that. The survey itself later asked whether I had been instructed to leave a positive review. To me, that says plenty about how confident they are in the reviews they would otherwise receive.

I will never take my car here again. I deeply regret assuming dealership prices would mean dealership-level care or accountability.

I feel like they represent the kind of place you want to avoid. They try to upsell you and a few of them are condescending. I tried to keep using them after my maintenance plan ended but I got much better help for a more affordable price switching to a different repair shop. Most recently they told me I needed to replace my brake pads and rotors for around $2400. I ended up replacing the pads myself for less than $400 (which still had some life left) and the rotors were fine.

Avoid, deceptive at best service center.

My 2020 forester was having some check engine light issues and due for its 30k maintenance. I cannot afford the cost of the 30k maintenance at this time and do not qualify to split the payments up. After dropping the car off for diagnostic I was told that the TCV had failed and needed to be replaced. I was also told that the person I was speaking with had talked to subaru and as long as I got the 30k service done there, they would fix my TCV for free. This is nonsense, the TCV is covered under an extended warranty by subaru and should be a free fix. I told them this and they said they had to call subaru to check. Seemed performative to me, I got a call shortly after saying it would be fixed for free. This was a great way to play into all of my fears about going into a car mechanic, they attempted to decive me into believing that I needed to get the 30k service done to get the part that was covered under extended warranty for free. Never taking my car there again.

This is the most terrible service shop I’ve ever dealt with in my entire life.
I came for engine diagnostics. Offered me to buy a new car… I could ask my wife, who’s never driven a car, and she’d give the same advice for free.
I started asking what’s wrong. Receptionist didn’t tell me anything, so I requested a mechanic. The mechanic told me about the compression without removing the spark plugs. 4th spark plug was stuck and remained stuck even after I picked up the car from them. Guess what. The compression was fine when I measured it myself at home.

There is also a suspicion that interior parts were stolen. I discovered it after 3 months, since no one sits in the back. Anyway, when replacing the airbags, according to the recall, many interior parts were scratched, including those that weren’t equipped with airbags. That’s why, I think the rear door panels were most likely swapped. Or the mechanics were very crazy and got fun scratching my doors.
Not big deal for my old lady, but keep it in mind when you bring your beautiful 2026 here.
