I stayed in the Albion and can’t speak to the other cottages. Walking into the bungalow, you are struck with a beautiful view through 2 corner windows of the Mendocino coast. Just magnificent! There’s a good sized living room, full kitchen and refrigerator, a small 4 seater dining area, a bedroom (almost entirely taken up by a queen bed) with a sliding door that opens onto a balcony and a full bathroom. I asked for decaf coffee ahead of time and that was waiting for me together with a small bottle of white wine from a local winery. There is no internet unless you connect to the property’s wifi which is more than adequate – about 60 mbps in this bungalow. The bungalow temperature is controlled by a thermostat and a self-igniting gas fireplace. These are the plus-es.
On the minus side, the balcony had no view to speak of at all, looking mostly at the exit road and the side of the bungalow in front of the Albion. (I think the view from the other bungalow balconies is better.) The furniture was old and very worn. The couch/ pull out bed in the living room was hard and not particularly comfortable to sit on watching TV. The biggest negative was my bathroom (but only the bathroom) was crawling with ants. When I mentioned it to the property contact they were quick to say they’ll address but, unfortunately, it was time for me to leave before they could. (My fault for late notification to them). In all, it is a comfortable (not luxurious) stay in a spectacularly beautiful area at a reasonable price. It’s a solid 3* accommodation in a 4-5* setting at a reasonable price.
We had a great stay with pup over the past weekend. There were many cottages with dogs during our stay. The fireplace made it extra cozy since it rained. We did end up preparing some light meals and I’d suggest bringing your own pan, but they have everything else you’d need. Yummy coffee & wine was there for us and check/out was super easy. Service was prompt when we had questions 🙂
We stayed in the Ignacio cottage for two nights. Great location, as the Little River Inn Restaurant is just up the way. Minutes from downtown Mendocino. Awesome ocean views from upstairs deck.
The negatives we experienced during our stay was the outside light was burned out near front door. The slider upstairs did not lock. The tv did not work. The windows need cleaned. The landscape is in need of some maintenance and repair… the main grass area ( not green at all) needs tlc.
We loved our last minute stay at the cottages! We had the place all to ourselves in mid March, which was magical. It’s right on the side of HWY 1 (set back from the road) and you can see and hear the ocean! We walked out to the bluff past the blowhole (must see!) one evening and its was incredible Super close to downtown Mendocino and tons of incredible state parks. You can also walk two minutes to the bar at the hotel next door. Rooms were modest but clean, warm, and peaceful. They even left a sweet little welcome kit for the dog! The self catering part was really nice as it beat choosing a hotel room with just a fridge, and allowed us to make great breakfasts before we headed out for the day. We even stayed a second night! Woke up to deer in the garden the morning we left. Thank you!!! Would highly recommend for a really peaceful stay with ocean views. (We stayed in Gualala cabin)
Thank you so much to the staff at Cottages at Little River. You can definitely tell they take pride in their work. They were very accommodating to us. We booked five cottages for the weekend. The place was absolutely amazing! Views were breathtaking. Staff was awesome! 100% would recommend this place for a little or long getaway. All five of our cottages were very clean! We had a little water problem but they fixed it ASAP. Thank you so much! Can’t wait to go back. Pet friendly AND they even accommodated our pets. They made sure we all felt very welcomed! It was like home away from home but with amazing views & fresh air.
