The hobbit holes at Burrowdale Inn are so adorable! We drove out of our way to stay here and it was well worth it! The attention to detail is really incredible, you can really believe you’re in the Shire. And we were so comfortable! Even though the temperature outside was close to 100°, the minisplit in our house kept us the perfect temperature inside. The shower was amazing and we had fun playing LOTR chess. And our Second Breakfast was SO good! This place really is spectacular, I highly recommend.

Lael’s Romantic Hobbit Hole retreat was perfect! We stayed 2 nights. It was half way point of our road trip to Nevada City. It is spotlessly clean, neat, and tidy and has many great amenities. The sheets (so soft) and towels were white fluffy and high quality. The kitchen was perfect for morning breakfast (BEST COFFEE) and evening appetizers. We ordered an amazing Shire-charcuterie board. The second breakfast was wonderful! It was perfect fuel for a long day of hiking. We went to Whiskeytown Area and Shasta ghost town. Wonderful!
Thank you for sharing, Diane & Mark

My wife and I stayed 2 nights in Magical Hobbit Hole (Sam’s) on a little weekend getaway from home and the kids. The construction and decor of the hobbit hole was fantastic. I could write a book about how authentic and COZY the hobbit hole was, but since I’m not Tolkien I’ll refrain from describing every rock and tree.
And the Food! Delicious! As a homesteader and fresh egg snob I could tell the eggs were laid a few yards away. The fruit and cream was supreme. The mushroom were particularly good…I enjoyed ever SECOND of second breakfast. The toast of all kinds was very tasty.
This is the perfect getaway for anyone who feels like butter scraped over too much bread and needs a holiday.
We will be back to rent out every hobbit hole and sample every breakfast. Well done to our hosts Lael and Amy. I want to be you guys when I grow up.

Found this lovely Inn online & immediately knew I needed to celebrate my 40th birthday here. It was the most delightful stay a Tolkien fan (or anyone) could ask for. From its beautifully detailed themed rooms, to the views looking out, it was just stunning. We were served (second) breakfast each morning & it did not disappoint. Absolutely delicious & again, very on theme! I enjoy immersing myself in the fandoms I love, so this spot was just perfect for me. Whether you’re a Lord of The Rings fan, or just looking for a cozy place to unwind… look no further. Couldn’t recommend this location more. Can’t wait to return!
