I recently had a very positive experience with this property that I felt compelled to share. I had booked a stay for one night over the Memorial Day weekend that I ended up not being able to make due to a minor medical issue. When I called fairly last minute to cancel my reservation, the staff could not have been more sympathetic and accommodating. In the end, they ended up refunding my deposit in full (which they did not have to do under their booking terms) and I was most grateful for that. The owners and management team here are clearly customer focused and I am looking forward to actually being able to spend some time there in the very near future.

    A Slice of Heaven!
Brewery Gulch Inn & Spa is one of those rare places that slows time down the moment you arrive. Waking up to the panoramic views of the Mendocino coastline, watching the birds glide over the cove with nothing but the sound of the ocean in the background, was an experience I’ll remember for a long time.
What really sets this place apart, though, is the people. Every member of the staff genuinely cared about making our stay special. The hospitality felt effortless, personal, and authentic—never forced.
The food deserves a special mention. The breakfasts were exceptional, made with fresh local ingredients and beautifully prepared, and the evening wine and light dinner service was far beyond what we expected. Every meal felt thoughtful, seasonal, and perfectly suited to the peaceful surroundings.
Between the craftsmanship of the inn, the incredible coastal views, the constant wildlife, and the warmth of everyone who works here, Brewery Gulch isn’t just somewhere you stay—it’s somewhere you experience. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape on the Mendocino Coast, this is as close to perfect as it gets. I can’t wait to come back.

Overall had a perfectly nice stay here but felt it was way overpriced for what we got.

Pros: location is great, parking was easy, could see the water from our room, close to the town of Mendocino. Room was quiet and clean, bed was comfortable. Le Labo products in the bathroom.

Cons: room was missing some things we would’ve wanted (mini fridge, kettle, mugs) (clearly they want you utilizing the communal breakfast area). Service left something to be desired (our room wasn’t ready at 4 p.m. despite check-in being at 3 p.m.) Other odd things like a whole wall of DVDs in the communal area but no DVD player in the room. Overall felt vaguely dated, fixtures and furniture did not feel particularly updated in either the common spaces or room.

Again, overall a nice enough stay, but at $695 (inclusive of tax) for a one-night stay, I would’ve expected more: either additional in-room amenities, more updated fixtures, or service in line with what you’d expect at a luxury hotel.

5-Star Review – Brewery Gulch Inn & Spa

    Thanks Crystal for the invitation

My wife and I recently celebrated a very special milestone at the beautiful Brewery Gulch Inn & Spa our 6 year dating anniversary on June 1st and we truly couldn’t have chosen a more romantic and luxurious destination.

From the moment we arrived, the customer service was absolutely flawless. Every staff member went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed, appreciated, and completely relaxed. The attention to detail throughout our stay was remarkable.

Our room was warm, elegant, and incredibly comfortable, complete with a cozy fireplace and stunning views that seemed to stretch forever. Waking up each morning and looking out over the breathtaking scenery felt like something out of a dream. Every corner of the property offers postcard worthy views and peaceful moments to enjoy with someone you love.

The food was outstanding from start to finish. Breakfast each morning was fresh, delicious, and beautifully prepared, Thanks Marcus for excellent service. Dinner was equally impressive, with incredible flavors and excellent presentation, Thanks Angel for your great service. Every meal felt like a special occasion.

One of our favorite features was the grand fireplace in the main lounge. The staff did an amazing job keeping it clean, warm, and always burning, creating the perfect atmosphere to unwind (Thanks Angel). We also loved the large collection of board games and movies available for guests. It added a fun and personal touch that made the experience feel even more inviting. We met and made a few new friends during our stay.

As a special surprise, I treated my wife to the Stone Spa experience, and she absolutely loved it. It was relaxing, rejuvenating, and the perfect addition to our anniversary getaway.

The combination of luxury accommodations, exceptional service, incredible food, romantic ambiance, and breathtaking coastal views made this one of the most memorable trips we’ve ever taken together.

If you’re looking for a place to celebrate an anniversary, honeymoon, birthday, or simply reconnect with someone special, Brewery Gulch Inn & Spa is truly a hidden gem. We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already dreaming about our next visit.

Thank you to the entire staff for helping make our anniversary unforgettable.

Big thanks to the manager for everything!!

    6 Stars isn’t enough we’d happily give it 20 out of 20.

I hesitated writing this review, but it’s been on my mind since we’ve returned home and felt like I needed to do so. We have stayed at BGI at least five or six times over the last decade – also staying at Allegria on several occasions, which i would recommend. Suffice it to say, sadly we will never stay at BGI again.
We have been twice since Guy Pacurar sold the inn to pursue Fathers+Daughtes Cellars (which is producing fabulous wines) bringing friends with us both times. It was concerning the first time (when the new owner had just taken over) and that concern has been confirmed many times over with our recent stay. They are sending promotions that offered some savings on multi night stays so we were tempted to give it another try. But…
Food, service and general “feel” of the inn has degenerated so much – not remotely what anyone would expect at an expensive, “luxury” inn. It was embarrassing to us because we’d brought our friends with such high expectations.
Mendocino is wonderful! In fact, it might be our very favorite place to spend time. Next time we’ll stay at McCollum House or Allegria. Sadly, BGI has become a shadow of its former self and, until it’s sold again – hopefully, to a hands-on owner who cares – I wouldn’t even consider it.
