We needed an authentic “south of the border” meal and found this little gem on the way to the airport. You know it’s a good sign when there’s a police officer sitting at a table. My friend wears a badge and they are very discriminating on where they spend their hard earned money. It has to be great, not too spendy, and fast service. Check. Check. Check.

The menu has everything you are looking for. We started with Negro Modelos and their delicioso salsa. My wife ordered a Carne Asada burrito, (loved it!) and I ordered the Chile Verde Dinner, (Chile Verde is my acid test when I go to a new restaurant) and it was excellent! The sauce was perfectly seasoned and I detected a little heat.

I then ordered something I have always shied away from, like uni sushi and steak tartare. (I am now a huge fan of both, properly done right.) I went for a Lengua Taco. Yup a tongue taco.

Rosario, (who was great!) smiled as I told her this Gringo was a little afraid. It. Was. Killer. Tender, flavourful and eradicated all of my apprehensions. Sometimes you just have to go for it. (Still not a fan of elk heart. Just sayin’.) If you have never had Lengua this is the place to push your envelope.

Bottomline, this is a tiny place serving up big flavor. When in Orinda, do yourself a favor and check it out.

If you’re looking for authentic Mexican food in the Bay Area, this place is a must.

The flavor profile is incredible, everything tastes fresh, bold, and truly authentic. The menu offers an excellent selection, with something for everyone, and every dish delivers on quality.

Customer service is outstanding, and the atmosphere makes the experience even better, welcoming, vibrant, and comfortable.

I just landed from Arkansas and was craving real flavor, and this spot absolutely delivered. It’s a hidden gem in Orinda and definitely worth the visit.

The food was Delicious! If you like spicy food, I would definitely try the “La Dorada Picante” Quesadilla. It was packed full of flavor. The owner was extremely hospitable and the environment was enjoyable. I will definitely be going back!

Great house made sauce on the burrito mojado. I had the red sauce and it was amazing. Salsa and chips were food. My son had the chicken quesadilla and my wife had the crunchy taquitos. Pleasant experience and the owner Mauro was very attentive. Recommend!
