Very nice Mediterranean cuisine at this restaurant in downtown Redwood City! The roasted cauliflower with hot and tahini sauces served as a great appetizer along with a strong coffee shot! We enjoyed our main veg entrees of falafel wth hummus and babaghush, along with mejadra! …..

I’ve been going every week for months now. Food is amazing. Service is amazing. Vibe is immaculate. I see families having fun. Groups having fun. I have fun (alone). They also have an alcohol menu which I’ve never tried. Do get the Pistachio Baklava and indulge in the honey goodness with your fingers. If you want Lebanese, try the Dawood Basha. If you want something more chill, get any Shawerma Arabic style. But just try everything as it is amazing. If you’re vegetarian, get the Moo-Jadara. In fact, just go.

The most authentic/closest to home (Lebanon) restaurant. The shawarma is a delight, the fattoush was superb with the right tangy profile and the crispy pita for the extra crunch, in addition to the oregano that makes all that flavour come together. Their stews are also commendable, chief amongst them the mounazaleh and the daoud basha. Highly recommend the baba ghanouj as well. The hostess/owner was very accommodating and welcoming. All in all best Lebanese food in town.

Delicious lamb and beef mix. I ordered the dinner platter to go and requested seating after picking up my order.. The employees were very friendly and presented seated dining. Fresh hummus and hot pita bread. Tender meat that melts in your mouth?

    Very generous portions.

Enough for me to enjoy dinner and take lunch as leftovers!

This is, hands down, the best Mediterranean restaurant I’ve tried since coming to California.

Moderately expensive pricing, for casual, but well worth it overall.

Authentic halal. Reminds me of New York!

    Serene and peaceful ambience.

Great for a anything from a casual date night to a family day out to dinner.

    I will definitely be back!

I was super excited to check out Zadna, as it was rated 4.6 stars. With such a rating, this has to be one of the best Mediterranean restaurants in the Bay Area, rivaling Dish n Dash or Evvia (on the high end). Given that it is a middle of the line, everyday price joint, it excited me even more to see what would be possible.

Let’s just straight to the food. There’s not much to talk about atmosphere – it is a modest restaurant setting – and the service was family-like and friendly. So the food.

One of the key benchmark items are the falafels. Are the crunchy while flavorful. Unfortunately, I cannot say this. Yes, they have decent falafels but it just didn’t ring my taste buds as some do. On top of it, they come with a dressing sauce which I’m not sure it enhances the flavor profile.

The dips were solid but nothing special. They were absolutely fresh and flavorful. But this was not a unique experience like Mykonos in Burlingame. The salad was good. The halloumi cheese was also good. But again, nothing was mind blowing.

At this point, I was getting a bit curious how this joint has scored a 4.6. It’s above average Mediterranean food served in a family-like setting. But this does not pass as an excetional category.

Now my party did have a good time. And yes, we will return. But I do have to say it is a bit overrated.
