I’m addicted to their salad bar now, but added some of my homemade gluten free croutons when I got home. The goddess dressing is so good! They have all the fixings and good protein options like turkey or chicken and hard boiled eggs. Aside from the salad bar it’s a great health food store with tons of healthy options.

Small format natural food store featuring a wide selection of expertly curated foods. They feature Audobon Certified beef from Stemplecreek Ranch based in Marin and a variety of meat product from Roundmans Smokehouse in Ft. Bragg a local butcher and custom meat processor of pork, lamb and goat. Nice variety of fruits, vegetables and very good dairy section. Fantastic bulk section with Frontier teas, spices and herbs and local honey. Daily soups, nice salad bar and small hot line. Excellent vitamin section. In store press for fresh squeezed OJ is a treat. Staff are really nice.

They have a good variety of vitamins, supplements and produce and since they expanded their store by adding the cafe area, it is double the positive atmosphere to just hang out for some coffee or computer work. The best natural food store around the area.

Customers: Please be nice to your cashiers! If not nice, then be polite.
Smells good in there, I think. Come experience Ukiah’s diverse health, holistic foods, and eavesdrop local gossip. Clean and safe environment. I did hear someone say that someone saw a rat outside, “Get the manager!” But, that’s where rats are supposed to be!

I joined The Ukiah Coop in the early 70s. Yes, Ukiah Natural Foods is still cooperatively owned. I am member number 48. I remember when it was next to the railroad tracks and it was called The Homestead Exchange. We could order fruit trees, and get staples, like brown rice at a cheaper price.

When I visit Ukiah, I like to drop in to the “Coop” and see what is new or whom I might run in to. It is a great place to run into old friends if you become a regular.

I love that you can buy things in bulk, and bring your own container (and keep plastic out of landfills). They have bulk honey, oils, nuts, seeds, beans, herbs and spices, and even sell shampoo, and essential oils in bulk. They have beautiful displays of organic fruit and vegetables. You can buy prepared foods and eat inside their new dining area. Or get a really great coffee drink or smoothie.

If you don’t live in the area, you might want to make a plan to drop by and see what you might find.
