Food is ok but service and atmosphere is so-so, and that is quite normal in bay area Chinese restaurant, haha.

The food was pretty good, but the overall experience was disappointing.

Be aware, the suggested tip percentages are based on the after-tax total, which results in a higher tip than many customers might expect.

The service was slow and was only the bare minimum (taking the order and bringing the food to the table).

The worst part of the night was when it came time to pay. I initially left a 15% tip, which was already very generous considering the quality of the service. A staff member then rudely told me there was a minimum 18% tip for dinner and repeatedly argued that I leave a higher tip. Tipping is voluntary, not mandatory, and should never be demanded from customers. Confronting a customer over the amount they choose to tip and asking for more is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Given how this situation was handled, I’ll also be checking my bank statement to ensure the final charge matches the amount I authorized.

After reading other reviews mentioning similar experiences, it appears this is a common problem at this restaurant. The quality of the food does not make up for the disgusting treatment. I would recommend you stay away from this restaurant.

We really wanted to like this place since it’s such a Millbrae staple and everyone seems to recommend it, but our experience was pretty disappointing. We’re staying at a hotel nearby and decided to drop in for dinner, big mistake.

First off, the wait was over an hour. For an “old establishment” that’s always packed, you’d expect the food to justify the time, but it just didn’t. The prices here are sky-high for what you get. Most dishes are over $22, which is wild considering you can find the exact same quality in LA for about $12.

The food itself was mediocre at best. We actually had to send the snow pea sprouts back because they were so tough and woody they were basically unchewable. When you’re paying premium prices, you expect the kitchen to at least pick through the veggies.

To top it off, parking is a total nightmare. Between the hour-long wait, the mid food, and the high bill, it’s just not worth the hassle. There are definitely better ways to spend your time and money in Millbrae.

The roasted duck was indeed good with very crispy skin. Curiously the half duck does not seem to be really a half duck as I missed the wings and the amounts of breast meat section seems limited. For the price one would expect more.

Heard about this restaurant from friends who say that it serves authentic Hong Kong cuisine and managed to visit it on a Friday night for dinner. As expected, there is a good crowd of diners and the two of us had to wait for about 15-20 mins before we got our seat. As expected, the food is good for the few dishes that we have ordered. Also, from the manager’s mouth, we learned that the restaurant has been operating in this location for 30+ years. A note: service will improve if you are speaking Cantonese throughout your meal.
