We had a great stay! The historical building is super cool but has been tastefully updated and is just beautiful! They have a lovely sitting area where we played cards and just enjoyed the great ambiance. Ashley and her family were super welcoming. Great location next to the Skunk Train. We will be back!!

I’m not sure if I can adequately express how much my wife and I enjoyed our amazing weekend staying at the Grey Whale Inn for our Anniversary! The accommodations rival any high-end resort in one of the most historic coastal buildings in Fort Brag, California. I have no doubt that Joe and Natalie’s (the Grey Whale owners) journey to restore and elevate this historic inn will soon become a location with a long wait-list for anyone seeking to experience the pleasures of a historic resort. The Inn’s history being the Logging Town’s local hospital complete with retained fixtures of a birthing unit, chapel, and basement morgue is more than enough to inspire the imagination of late night ocean breezes creaking the windows and walls. There are even more “special” enhances planned for the Grey Whale property that will add even more mystique for this destination stay. You may be delighted to find delicious eating within walking distance to include the handmade ice cream shop that is on everyone’s “must do” list. And to ensure your stay is complete… the Skunktrain and Railbike excursions have to be included as well as one of the area’s best keep secrets… riding the train out to Glen Blair Junction for live music on Friday or Saturday evening. I sincerely hope by the time you’re reading this you are able to still book your stay… but I sincerely believe that it will not be long before reservations will need to be made over a year in advance. Natalie and her family made our stay truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed not as guests, but as friends. The Grey Whale Inn is in the midst of a beautiful transformation, thoughtfully preserving its old-world charm while creating something truly special.

What stood out most was the genuine hospitality and care that went into every detail. Each morning, we looked forward to the delicious handmade breakfast served from 8:00–10:00 a.m.—a wonderful way to start the day and another reflection of the love and attention the family pours into the inn.
