We had a fantastic meal at Ten East Kitchen. The roti was perfectly cooked and paired beautifully with the coconut curry, which was rich, fragrant, and full of flavor. The samosas were absolutely incredible—crispy, well-seasoned, and easily one of the highlights of the meal.
The cocktail and wine program is outstanding. The Spirited Away cocktail is hands down my favorite and worth coming back for on its own. It’s creative, balanced, and one of the best cocktails I’ve had in the East Bay.
Great food, an excellent beverage program, and a welcoming atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!
Just had dinner at the Piedmont locating and it was delicious! Love the little outdoor patio and the servers were very sweet. One recommendation is for them to update their menu to clarify that most (maybe all?) of their vegetable dishes are in fact vegan so all my vegan friends can come enjoy the food here. I know their Broadway location menu shows this more clearly.
Arrived at the 11:00 AM opening to an completely empty restaurant, choosing a table in the front outdoor seating area.
The service model requires you to order and pay at the counter upfront before taking a number to your table. I chose to hold off on adding an initial tip at the register to see how the table service would materialize.
The transaction process had some immediate friction; the cashier struggled with the POS system when the tab for my specific dish wouldn’t highlight. His workaround was to input a completely different dish (lamb), claiming it was the same price. A quick glance at the physical menu on the counter revealed it was actually $18.00 rather than the $17.00 price point of my intended dish. I chose not to argue the discrepancy just to avoid prolonging the interaction.
Roti with Dip ($10.00): Arrived first after my drinks. The roti itself was a standard, baseline preparation, but the accompanying dipping sauce was a highlight—good, rich, and noticeably chunky.
Coconut Chicken Curry ($17.00): A very standard profile that tastes quite similar to versions served at numerous other establishments. While the curry sauce was decent, it lacked depth and left me desiring a punchier flavor profile. The chicken pieces themselves were structurally sound—moist and flavorful—but the dish would have benefited from a more generous portion of potatoes.
Side Salad: Tasty enough, but ultimately a forgettable addition to the plate.
The outdoor dining experience is average. The primary viewpoint from the front seating area is a parking lot, and the foot traffic consists entirely of patrons from the neighboring restaurant walking past to access the outdoor restrooms around the corner.
Table service post-payment was entirely nonexistent; no one ever stepped outside to check on the meal or see if everything was okay. At the conclusion of the meal, I walked back inside to hand the waiter a $5.00 tip directly—which required another employee calling him out from the back of the house just to retrieve it.
Verdict: An operationally clunky start and standard, low-stakes execution on the plates. Fine for a frictionless convenience stop, but it doesn’t stand out in a competitive regional landscape.
This is my fave restaurant! The cumin chicken is amazing and spicy. My wife loved the garlic noodles. The garlic green beans for the win. Good mocktails. The restaurant was packed and we had food in under 15 min. Great attentive staff
Everything about our experience was lovely! Everyone working was super warm and welcoming, especially our server Jas. All the food and cocktails were delicious and we can’t wait to be back to try more!
