DON’T MISS THIS, QUILTERS!!
On the north end of Franklin Street in a building that looks like a small set back warehouse, one could think this might not be very large, but once I stepped inside I realized what a great shop this is! The large variety and quality of fabrics is wonderful! All manner of supplies are available, too. This is a GEM! There is also a large quilting room where one can met other quilters.
My wife and I were at Sew ‘n Sew today. The minute we walked in the door Paula was there asking how she could help us. We had a piece of fabric we wanted to match. She worked with us until she found it on her computer and ordered some more for us. She continued to help us look for other fabric that we needed and even volunteered to teach us how to paper piece the next time we were in Fort Bragg. She and the other gal that was working were both helpful and shared their knowledge with how to pick different colors and what they had in the store. Wish we could give them 10 stars because they went above and beyond all our expectations.
Quilters always love to check out new shops and usually the sewing community is warm and welcoming. How disappointing to find that isn’t the case at this off the beaten path shop. I came in about :30 minutes after they opened, the cashier busy chatting up a regular about her son moving back home and buying used cars. She never acknowledged me, even when the other patron left. Not a “let me know if I can answer any questions” or “can I help you find anything in particular”. After :30 minutes of strolling the store, I tapped on the open office door of what was perhaps the owner (Paula) and said “Excuse me, I just have a quick question about this thread?” No answer. One more tap, “Pardon me?” She never turned around, so I put my items back where I found them and left.
Maybe this shop was great 6 years ago, but it felt a little long in the tooth when I visited. It could use a little attention to visual merchandising and definite training in customer service.
My friend and I spent almost 3 hours at this wonderful shop today. We had the opportunity to meet and talk to each of the three owners. They were knowledgeable, welcoming and genuinely nice women. The shop had a comfortable and spacious classroom, a great selection of notions, patterns and supplies. Their fabrics were wonderful!! They had chosen a delightful cross section of patterns and designers that would please a variety of Quilters. We hope to be able to come to a class and spend more time here!!
