I am so thrilled we finally got this brick-and-mortar spot right here in Montara. Sage Bakehouse has easily become my go-to weekend ritual. Nestled right along Cabrillo Highway, you simply cannot beat the ocean views while sipping a perfectly pulled espresso on their patio.Their specialty is Australian-style savory pies, and they completely knock it out of the park. The crusts are unbelievably flaky, buttery, and golden-brown. If you are stopping by for lunch, you have to try the Chicken Pot Pie or the Australian Beef Pie, they are hearty, packed with flavor, and hit the spot after a morning hike on the coast. For a quick, spicy bite, the sausage rolls are absolutely perfect. If you are craving something sweet, their fruit hand pies are out of this world without being overwhelmingly sugary. And for coffee lovers, they take their craft seriously. Whether you want a simple drip, a cortado, or a seasonal latte, they nail it every time using amazing local roasters. The staff and owner are incredibly welcoming, which gives the whole place a warm, community-driven feel. Whether you are grabbing a quick warm bite, hanging out with friends on the weekend, or picking up a cold pie to bake at home for dinner, Sage Bakehouse is exactly what our coastside community needed.
Super casual roadside bakery specializing in New Zealand style pies. As an Australian born to Kiwi parents and a pie lover, I can definitively state that these pies are AWESOME. I will definitely be back soon.
Live jazz music and warm yummy pies along highway1. Such a cute spot between half moon bay & Pacifica. Tried the habanero chicken pot pie which had a very spicy kick to it! Also had steak & mushroom pie and the minced beef pie. All the pies turned out to be really good. Flaky crust and flavorful filling! Good stopover on your drive along highway1
If you appreciate a proper brew and high-quality baking, look no further. The coffee has a fantastic profile, and the selection of baked goods is impressive—perfectly balanced flavors and great textures. It’s rare to find a place that excels at both, but they nailed it. Five stars all the way.
