Great location of the restaurant with good seating arrangements indoor and outdoor for summertime. I got the raspberry mule suggested the waiter which was quite minty but refreshing. The salad was pretty good as well. Not sure why the wait staff was very eager for us to order. Came to our table about 10 times when we were waiting for our friends to arrive and we were seated a little earlier (graciously by the staff).
The two of us went in to ROAM for Thursday morning breakfast during a visit to Bend in late June. Parking was easy and we were just one of two tables in the place. The nice host sat us in a booth to wait for a server. And we waited. And waited. At the 15 minute mark without seeing anyone other than the host, who was keeping himself busy, I went up to the stand to ask if we needed to go somewhere to give our order (you just never know these days!) or if someone came to the table. The host seemed surprised no one had been so he went to fetch someone. Our server, we’ll call him C, finally meandered over. He was pleasant but didn’t seem to be particularly bothered that we had been waiting. We ordered our drinks and food. C came back with our coffee and it was excellent! He told us it came from a local roaster so we got the name to check out on another morning. One of us had the Lavender Berry French Toast and the other ordered Yuzu Poppyseed Pancakes. Both were great! The Lavender was the perfect amount for the generous chunk of brioche toast that was just soaked enough. The pancakes were fluffy with just enough yuzu to cut through the sweetness of the ricotta. Towards the end of the meal, C came by with the check. I gave him the card. He returned with the charge. Upon looking at the bill, I discovered he had charged us the wrong amount so I had to go back to the host to have that addressed. C swung back by to refund and recharge. Really the very lackadaisical service was the only dampener on the morning. There was another male server handling a busy family of four and we remarked several times that we wished we’d gotten that guy! So, if you go to ROAM. Enjoy the delicious food but temper your service expectations. Hopefully, you will have better luck than we did.
Special callout to the nice people working the desk at the hotel that had to help find the restrooms as that is a fun little adventure too. Make sure you read the sign in the restaurant before wandering off to the loo.
When my husband suggested Roam based on crème brûlée flight options alone – it was at the top of my list for what to do in Bend while here. I was even willing to skip dinner!
But I could seriously tour the menu because there wasn’t one item that didn’t appeal to me despite a sensitive stomach. Awesome options!
I overheard a house favorite is the Wagyu Bolognese, but again I would have been thrilled with all the options if we were planning dinner over dessert (menu in photos)
But still fell for an appetizer because who wouldn’t try a Dungeness Crab fondue! Saved the rest of our appetite for our planned crème brûlée flight this visit so we will definitely “tour” their menu again!
The atmosphere, off the main streets, top talent service were everything we appreciate about a date night out!
For our flight we tried the Brown Sugar Bourbon & Bacon, Marionberry Pie, Madagascar Vanilla, and Espresso Cream
Excellent food. Highly suggest the burger with truffle fries for lunch! Excellent Eggs Benedict too! Only reason for the 1 star off is that after a 55 min wait for table, it was another 40 mins for the food to arrive. Will update rating if service improves on next visit!! Our server was great! Very cheery and professional!!
We looked at a few other options before choosing this one and I am glad we did. I loved the elk sausage with eggs .It was tasty and filling. There is a good selection of omelettes as well and they are tasty. The one with sundried tomatoes was excellent. Pancakes were nice and fluffy. Brandon did an excellent job with the service and was very helpful and attentive during our visit. All in all the family was very happy including my small dog. They let the dogs in the patio area but not the indoor space, which is understandable. We plan to swing by again during our next visit to Bend. Great place to eat!
