I was unpleasantly surprised at the price gouging that’s currently ongoing at this Marriott location. I have stayed at this hotel several times before and have checked in early on previous occasions and was never charged for checking in 2 hours early. This time there was a fee of $40.00 to check in early. I have stayed at Marriott hotels for 30 years of my life (Bonvoy member) and this was absolutely the 1st time that this has happened. Now the parking. $70.00 a night for valet parking. Don’t even tell me that this is market rate. This is simply nickle and diming. Reasonable room rates on the front end, then dig deeper into the wallet on the back end. I’m done with this hotel and Marriott locations in the Gaslamp area. You can find me in Old Town and I’ll Uber to the Gaslamp if I need to. That would be a much better economical plan.

Business travelers be careful when renting here. I use residence inn every week and for 1 reason, so i feel like I’m not in a hotel. DO NOT reserve the queen studio and expect it to be like all other residence inn hotels. When I got to my room there was a 2×2 table with 2 ancient chairs, a living room chair, and a bed. There was no desk, or sofa like all other locations have. There was spots in the room that were just left empty where they were supposed to be. When I double checked the pictures on the website, I did notice there was no sofa. Fine. So I called the desk and explained i need room to work, a desk to open my computer and files on the table etc. The first gentleman said he would look into if there was a desk in storage to be brought up. That was NOT done or at least followed up with me about. The second lady I spoke to said all the other rooms were occupied blah blah. I said politely that I really need a desk and work area and if one was not available could I check out the following day, earlier than planned, without penalty. I said the picture shows a desk and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect what is depicted when reserving a room. This room looked like a very dated comfort inn or motel 6 with a kitchenette. The wood was nasty and scratched on the table, dresser, chairs, and mirror. The ice maker didn’t work. The fridge was all denver up. What a joke. So She put me on hold for 5 minutes while she spoke to manager Felicia, I believewas her name, she told me that she was sorry and I would be charged if I decided to leave. What TERRIBLE management skills. She didn’t get on the phone and address my concern or talk to me. Nothing, just no. I didn’t ask for anything for free, i just wanted a normal room or to leave. I will not use this hotel next month or ever again as a matter of principal, and because the room i had was trash. I called Marriott to see if they could assist me in any way to leave the following day. But I got the automated system that said they would call me back. I entered my number and then never heard from anybody. That was another frustration. I stuck it out and dealt with it.

I have 1 more night before I’m platinum elite status with over 50 nights on the road at Residence inn ytd, you would have thought they would have been more attentive.

I recently lost my wallet and the hotel wasn’t accommodating. All though I was able to pay for the hotel online I was unable to use my phone which how I paid for the three night stay online to check into the room. This Hotel doesn’t accept digital wallet. Which kind of bummer because I used my digital wallet to pay for the room online. Unfortunately they weren’t able to issue me a refund and I do not recommend this property. All though this property is managed by the Marriott it doesn’t live up to the Marriott standards. I just came from a 3 night stay at another Marriot property in Miami and they were able to help me. Again I fully paid for my 3 night stay online, didn’t get a refund and the management team didn’t offer to help me in any way.

After reading the reviews before booking, I honestly can’t tell if people are being paid to write them. What is described online and what you actually get are two completely different things.

The furniture is worn out everywhere — not just in the rooms, but even in the breakfast area. The whole property feels dated and in need of a serious refresh.

Another surprise was the parking. Parking is not included and starts at $70 per day.

The pool and lounge area look pretty bad. It’s supposed to be a place to relax and spend some time, but honestly, it’s not inviting at all. We had no desire to stay there.

Overall, the hotel feels highly overrated. The photos and reviews set expectations that the reality simply doesn’t meet. There are definitely much better options available for the price.

I’ve stayed at this hotel multiple times. Pretty basic but decent hotel. I like the fact that there’s a kitchenette in each room with a full-size refrigerator. This last trip we were in an accessible room, even though we don’t require one, so some of the layout was a little weird. The free breakfast is always a nice touch and this particular hotel has a really nice selection of food. Location is hard to beat. My biggest complaint has to do with the comfort of the bed. The sheets would slide off easily, and after three nights there, my back was killing me. The pillow was super squishy which didn’t help.
