Worth the trek from the parking lot. Bring a chair if you need to take a break because there are no benches between where you park and where the lighthouse is. It is also downhill, so take that into mind. It’s super dog friendly, even inside the lighthouse itself. The views are just as good as everywhere else on the coast. They have a few exhibits setup like a museum , a small aquarium and a great little gift shop. We didn’t go up top so I don’t have any thought on that.

Lovely lighthouse and gorgeous view of the Coast. Apparently it’s one of three working lighthouses with a spinning light in US.
The lighthouse keepers museum is super cool to see all of the old household items like washboards and stuff.

Beautiful historic lighthouse with stunning coastal views and a peaceful atmosphere. The walk to the lighthouse is scenic and relaxing, with ocean views almost the entire way. The grounds are well kept, and the combination of history, rugged coastline, and crashing waves makes it feel incredibly special. Great spot for photos, quiet reflection, and watching the sunset. Definitely worth visiting if you’re exploring the Mendocino coast.

Awesome Place!! Came here for a quick visit and met Nanette, the Keeper/Docent. She gave me a brief history of the place. Has a unique gift shop. The views are stunning and a great place to explore. You can watch the waves crashing on the shore below. If you’re lucky, you can catch a view of some whales swimming or sea lions basking in the sun!
Free parking.
There is about a 3/4 mile hike from the parking area. Easy and level.
Handicapped placard vehicles can drive almost up to the lighthouse and park.
There is a small museum outside with an aquarium full of local creatures.
Several vacation rental houses are located super close to the lighthouse.
A $5 “Suggested” donation to enter lighthouse.

Such a cool working lighthouse! It’s a little walk to get to the lighthouse and museum (unless you are staying there overnight or have a placard), but it’s well worth the walk. It’s scenic and the little museums both inside the lighthouse and the keepers quarters were fun to explore. The docents knew their stuff too! I would suggest going on a weekend when you can go up to the lens because it’s spectacular and really fun to learn how they used to have to keep the light going!
