Stop being cheap. Invest in your menu. When I first got my menu I was excited because it looked good and it was laid out exactly how a menu should be: one page, food on one side, wine list on the other. However, food was dissapointing. Burger tasted frozen, ingredients were low quality (bun and sauce was good), and my biggest frustration was the garlic truffle fries. The cheap, pre shredded Parmesan ruined it for us. That crap doesn’t melt, and it falls off the fries until you’re left with a few fries left with a disgusting pile of Parmesan on them. The fries themselves were good. Essentially, there was a strong effort on atmosphere here, well executed. But the food is an afterthought. Maybe trade out the fancy cloth napkins for quality ingredients. It makes me sad that this is supposed to be part of Bend history.

Pine Tavern is the kind of restaurant that makes you feel like a food connoisseur. Every dish that lands on your table will arrive one-upping the last. You’ll look around at the river and the property and barely even notice the tree(s) protruding up thru the floor, room, and roof of the main dining hall. Their vintage take on northwest classics and fresh baked items; mixed with their warm service makes you leave feeling like a cousin come into town for a family visit and grandma’s secret recipes. You’ll find yourself shooting the breeze and feeling the breeze and if you’re thinking Pine Tavern is to throwback for your quick visit to Bend with so many hip & modern restaurants… just scratch your other reservations off and put this on the list. You will not be disappointed if you’re seeking quality family dishes. At the table you’ll find yourself saying things like “yum” and “there’s always room for a little ice cream strawberry rhubarb crumble”. I can’t wait to bring friends & come back to try the rest of the menu next time in town. What an amazing gem literally among the trees of the northwest. Thank you Chloe for making my meal a memory.

Had a great time out on the back deck overlooking the river. Tasty drinks and beer, and yummy sweet potato waffle fries! Since 1938 – great local place.

The food was really really good. I had the best sweet potatoes fries I’ve ever had. They were perfectly crispy, sweet, and went well with the sauce.

I ordered the steak bites (on the appetizer menu). It was very savory and reminded me of a well seasoned home cooked meal. I loved the sauce. I highly recommend.

The grilled asparagus was also good. My wife enjoyed her Beet Salad.

    I ordered a pear martini drop….also delicious.

We stopped in before our way out of town. Make sure to check the hours before you go. We heard about this place from word of mouth and how cool the two trees are in the back. We went in during lunch time and had some beers and small bites. I enjoyed the Cesar salad and clam chowder. I am still dreaming of this clam chowder. I cannot wait to return for it. We shared the bread pudding dessert made with scones. It was amazzzzzzzing. The host and server/bartender were phenomenal and kind. I am counting the days until I can return for a bowl of chowder and trying some more desserts.
