I went here on a referral to help diagnose an issue that was causing very bad lesions on my skin. The earliest available appointment was about two weeks out from my initial urgent care appointments so at this point it had, thankfully, been healing fairly well. I showed my assigned dermatologist photos of when it had been at its worst to help him get a gage on what it could have been, but I was a little shocked when he suggested to the attending nurse that she run the photos through chat gpt. It was honestly pretty jarring to have this suggested right in front of me without a second thought and without asking me if I was okay with having photos of my body run through chat gpt. The nurse, however, said this wouldn’t be possible because I suppose they were using the free version. So instead, he ran my symptoms through chat gpt and asked if any of the results seemed familiar to me. I didn’t know how to respond since the results were kind of generic. If I wasn’t after all sightly amused by the absurdity of all of this, I’d probably given one star instead. They did offer a skin biopsy, which after I urged them to explain the process to me, I chose not to do it on the spot given how invasive the procedure seemed for a condition that was healing already. Overall, it seemed wild to pay anything for an appointment that apparently I could’ve completed with equal efficiency at home, by myself. Maybe even more so, since I could’ve used that 35$ to use the PAID version of chat gpt.
