Absolutely loved this Korean restaurant! Every dish we ordered was delicious, and everything tasted fresh and authentic. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Great food, great service, and a wonderful overall experience. Highly recommend!
The food and service were excellent. We got the beef bibimbap and small galbi soup. Received less sides than when I go to a korean bbq, but they went perfect with bibimbap. The bibimbap was perfectly seasoned so if you want you could add more. Our waiter was great and helpful. Can’t wait to go back.
All my Korean food fantasies just came to life in this new place!!!! Redwood City lacks a decent korean place to satisfy my cravings for korean dishes and side dishes after bimgewqtching on k-dramas…and then comes Gangsan! Thank you- right at the heart of downtown Redwood City right accross Century Cinema and just around the corner from possible dessert places.
Came for the soft opening and the fares offered were very satisfying the beef was so soft it broke away from the bone as we scooped it out of the bowl!
I love the gentle korean music playing on the background in a way that’s not overwhelming and conversation around the table is still possible.
I love how they are very meticulous with the food presentation, the tableware was all so posh. I felt special just sitting at the table. They very wisely worked with the bones of the former biergarten that used to occupy the space and brought in korean elements without being too garrish.
I can’t wait until the full menu is available- hopefully they’ll be offerring some korean desserts. I will be back to try more stuff out!
After a reservation snafu at a nearby restaurant, we ended up at Gangsan Korean Cuisine by chance on the first night of its soft opening. The staff was friendly and welcoming.
We started with the tenderloin tartare and short rib appetizers, followed by bibimbap and beef soup for our main courses. Overall, the food was flavorful and thoughtfully prepared, with high-quality ingredients, strong technique, and refined presentation.
If they can expand to their full menu while maintaining the same welcoming atmosphere and consistent quality, I think they’ll do very well.
