We bought a house with a tiny backyard that had been neglected — overgrown with bramble blackberries and jasmine, 20ft-high stalks of very dead bamboo, the remnants of a rotten wood deck… A friend connected us to Chris / 1BAY, who saw huge potential for our little plot but also noted severely depleted soil. He came up with and executed a great, cost-effective plan for clearing the yard, rejuvenating the soil (the right quantity of wood chips, water, sun and time) and putting us on track for planting in spring of ’27. And the following sounds like pure bullshit but is actually true: he was a great communicator, balanced creative thinking with real-world constraints, stayed within budget and was always on-time. Psyched to pull him back in when the soil is ready for us!
